Real Madrid Set to Make New Cristiano Ronaldo Bid

Bernd Schuster has revealed that Real Madrid will try again to sign Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United.

Ronaldo was heavily linked with a move to the Bernabeu this summer, but due to Man UTD's unwillingness to let him go, it all failed.

However, the German trainer hopes that by next summer, Ronaldo would be a Real Madrid player:

"We must do everything possible as it would be worth it to have this player," Schuster told Spanish newspaper Marca.

"I think this year it will be a little complicated for his club to hang on to him."

Real Madrid made just one official offer. They offered Man UTD 80m euros for their winger, but Schuster says that they will lower their bid this time:

"There is no other solution other than to make a large bid as they'll not let him go on the cheap," he said. "Next year the price could be a little lower." 

80m euros, to me, is a lot of money and I think that no footballer on earth deserves such a mount of money. I admit that Ronaldo is a great player and could bring a lot of money to the club through advertising and trophies, but it is just doesn't make sense.

Furthermore, I'd use the 80m and go and sign at least two players - two world-class players - not just one.

Real will also face competition from Manchester City who were taking over by Abu Dhabi - a lot of money - United group.

They think that by signing Robinho they could bring anyone. They've got to understand that there are other things other than money which attract players - that is history and prestige.

Why would Ronaldo leave Man United for Man City? Why would Buffon leave Juventus for Man City? or Why would Kaka leave Milan for Man City? The reason Robinho signed for them is because he desperately wanted to leave Real and because he was very interested in money.

No one else would trade Real Madrid for Man City - no matter what.

The bottom line is that we shouldn't destabilize the football market by spending such amount of money on one player. If he'd come for a reasonable price, then that'd be okay, otherwise, we should sign other players.

I...don't ...want...Ronaldo! I don't think he lives up to the demand of Real Madrid that their players should have a good reputation! I don't think that he is so very good in big games.He was totally lost against Sweden on Saturdays game.And that's not the first time.I think that Man U has offered the whole team to be passups for C.Ronaldo.All the players works their asses of for him to score. I really hope that this is false rumours.

DONT THEY GET IT? Us Madridistas DONT want Ronaldo. Personally, I call him Cuntiano for certain reasons. I am with Amir. If you are going to go for someone. Go for Benzema and make Sir Alex mad that he couldn't get him. I would LOVE that! I am with BIM as well. All the players works their asses of for him to score. He just takes the glory.

It is pretty difficult to sign Gerrard from Liverpool if not impossible. He is the symbol of the club and the captain.

As for Kaka, he could come especially after the arrival of Ronaldinho. It would take a public statement from him and a mega offer from Real.

It's good to see a polite Barca Fan. I gotta to dissagree with you about Barca winning the league though. You have good players but they are not collaborating well. I think after a year or so your squad will learn how to play together. Which brings be back to Mr. C. Ronaldo. He is a great player no doubt. However I still feel that Messi is a far better player. C. Ronaldo, however, will win the ballon d'or. He "won" the champions league (missed the penalty which could have cause Man U the game) and he wont the EPL (never played well in the big games). Personally I could do without Mr. Ronaldo. All this summer transfer drama is the reason we lost Robinho and there is no doubt that we will lose more come next year. We need defenders and the Board and apparantly Schuster don't see that. I would rather try and get Anderson or Vidic than Ronaldo.
