Real Madrid To Improve Robinho's Contract & Schuster Calls 21 Players For Frankfurt's Friendly

Written by Adam Bader on Tuesday, 12 August 08, 10:19 AM

Eintracht Frankfurt - Real Madrid

12/08/2008 - 20:30

Commerzbank-Arena

Marca says that Real Madrid are going to improve Robinho's contract following the latest bid from Chelsea. The Paper says that Schuster still has faith in the Brazilian international and has asked Real to keep hang of him.

Calderon is reportedly offering 3.5/4m euros while Chelsea are offering 6m euros per year. Robinho currently earns 2.1m per year which is a relatively low salary considering how talented he is. He is really among the lowest paid players at the Bernabeu.

Personally, I think that Robinho deserves 5m euros. He is reportedly asking for that too, but it looks like that Calderon is not interested in paying more than 4m euros. Hopefully, he will throw more bucks and make all parties happy.

In the meantime, Robinho has traveled with the team to Germany for the friendly against Franfurt. Ah.. by the way, he is not alone, Schuster also took 20 players:

Goalkeepers

Casillas, Dudek, Codina

Defenders

Salgado, Heinze, Torres, Pepe, Ramos, Metzelder

Midfielders

Diarra, Guti, Baptista, Robinho, Robben, Van der Vaart, Javi García, De la Red

Forwards

Raúl, Van Nistelrooy, Saviola, Higuaín

Cannavaro and Sneijder didn't travel due to injury while Drenthe, Gago and Marcelo are on international duty. The game kicks off 20:00 CET and it should be entertaining, however, I hope there won't be any more injuries, Schuster should be careful!

Well, you guessed it, thats about it for today. Nothing much. More tomorrow

Good to hear we're starting to think straight, we can't lose out on Robinho, he can be THE best if he tries hard enough.
Can't wait to watch the match, we have a good squad and hopefully we can get back to winning ways, Real Madrid style winning ways that is, hope we run over them =D Hala Madrid!

Its good that Madrid are looking to raise Robinho's contract. I think its ridiculous that he is one of the lowest paid players but i definitely think that for a minimum his salary needs to be doubled. If Calderon cant offer more then 4 million then he should add relatively easy bonuses to make him happy. Hopefully it will all work out.

Hopefully it will and yes, I find it odd that Real are paying him such a low salary. I earn more than him 8)

Everyone even the commentators are talking about our midfield, they all agree that R.Madrid have world class players there but they are not playing as a team. I hope V.D.V will work in by the two fist matches in La Liga as a team player..With a 1-1 draw our preseason still does not look impresive....And anyone who wants SAVIOLA to leave must be crazy, he is such a good player, even in the game against Frankfurt he showed it by setting up Robinho with the only goal for R.Madrid

We mustn't let Robi go!!
Raise his salary. He definitely deserves that!!
Last game I saw him shoot and score,it seems that he doesn't want to leave RM.

You're right, without a doubt, we have the best midfield in the world yet the click still needs to be found, and our finishing is seeming poor, we need a young striker and fast. We should take out three strikers in my opinion as the better out of the lot and they should be Villa, Huntelaar, and Benzema, which ever one out of these is going to be great. I just hope we improve the defense by bringing in Garay, as we see in the games, we miss Cannavaro real bad :( But as they found the click last year, they're going to find it this year =D Hala Madrid!

We shouldn't judge the team on friendlies. They haven't played together for a long time and so they need more playing time. As for the strikers, everything looks good, but If Baptista leaves, then yes we need another one and I'd go for Villa.

watched the friendly. We were pretty poor in the first half. VDV looked good with some nice passes and shooting. But with a midfield of Diarra, Guti, VDV and Robben, who did Schuster expect to win the ball and break-up play? Diarra alone is not enough. We all know how well Guti tracks back, he is plain lazy sometimes. Pepe looked solid. Ramos was a bit erratic though understandable.

I'm scared for Torres, he really hasn't improved since he came into the first team. He looked very nervous, and had nothing going forward, and was beaten quite frequently on the left.

Robinho seriously needs some shooting practice. His shots from outside the box are so terrible (that backpost attempt was decent). any idea why he has absolutely no power?
