Real Madrid 3-2 Getafe | La Liga Review and Goal Videos

Higuain

Morning,

What a great night last night was. Pretty incredible. It was one of the most heart-breaking games I have ever seen. It was like the ones where you think that you are going to score one more goal and win and then an idiot like Pepe gets sent off, the other team gets a penalty scores then you equalize and you beat the hell out of them? I love these kind of matches...

But seriously, and for Godsake, why Juande keeps playing Rau'l for 90 minutes? For the last few weeks, the only thing I have been winning about is this Rau'l thing and I really am sick of it. Rau'l is one of the greatest players the world has ever seen, he is someone every player should look up to, but he isn't just good for the team. He can't play in every game, not because he sucks, but because he isn't capable of performing on a level that the current style of football requires.

Another thing which was absurd was substituting Van der vaart for Robben early in the second half. I understand that Robben was going to change the game (and he kind of did), but the reason he hadn't played in the first place was that he was not totally fit. I think Juande didn't think thoroughly about this and jumped the gun. It was not a bad decision, but it was not the right the call. Van der vaart was fired up and healthy while Robben was injured. I think instead he should have sent in Torres for Rau'l (okay for Van der vaart or Guti) and moved Marcelo to the wing if he wanted some pace and activity in there.

There was also something wrong with the defense. Granero sent a great cross to Soldado who headed the ball into the back of the net. Ironically, two of our own players helped the opposing team but us behind in the game. I think Soldado should have been marked by Pepe or Cannavaro but none was there.

Their second goal came off a counter-attack and for that the whole team was responsible. I understand the situation very well, we were fired up and trying to score and in this cases you leave lots of spaces and If you don't have fast defenders you can't go back easily.

Higuain scored our first just before the first half ended. The credit all goes to him for his individual work and his "intelligence".

Pepe messed up the whole thing. He just kept kicking the poor guy and he deserved to be sent off. He also deserved a punch in the face. Now we will be without him and God knows for how long. This is complicates things for and it could have been avoided. I was really shocked.

Higuain got booked for "diving". Well, it was a legitimate penalty and the referee got it wrong. Gonzalo will miss our next game, but I hope that the club will try to appeal his yellow card.

Guti scored a fantastic goal from a free-kick. It was the best thing he did in the match and for that I appreciate it. At least he wasn't as useless as Rau'l was, so thank you Guti!

Higuain, as usual, saved our butt with a late-minute goal. Individual work and a fantastic goal. He has scored 18 goals so far which is great.

The bottom line is we earned the three points which what matters. Kudos to Capello for bringing our spirit back, and hadn't he done that, nor Juande or Schuster would have won matches like this.

Hala

Hala Madrid!

45' Higuain

86' Guti

90' Higuain

He isn't injured but for some reason he isn't in the squad list. Maybe the English version of the official site missed him? Will double check.

v.d.vaart should start.at least he'll have an eye on goal.we need another dimension in attack(especially with robben doubtful),gago is already quite similar to guti.

I honestly think both Guti and VDV will start....I think one of Robben or Higuain will be rested for the match...so Guti will play alongside Gago and VDV as a left midfielder.

Now I know that most of you don't want to hear more political stuff about the elections but I had to mention this...I've just read that Perez made a 25m offer for Ribery =D but unfortunatly a super-agent (I forgot his name haha) mentioned the players who will probably leave this summer...and some of them were RVN,VDV and Robben....soo I hate perez for that but if he really wants to sign Ribery he's winning me over haha.

Yeah, it did. He's on the list. Did any of you hear the rumors about Zapata and Ribery, for once some rumors have made me happy. Zapata is a class centre-back and very athletic and the perfect rotation plan for Garay and Pepe. He's a moster in Football Manager too =D Lets see what happens, the elextion campaign should begin soon enough, I think it starts first or second week of May. Hala Madrid! :)

2,500mil is the price that Bayern paid for Marseille 2 yrs ago, the amount Perez offered was about 3800 millions but Bayern wants 5,000.(The Germany media didn't specifically mention Perez's name but everyone of us knows who that "one of the nominator" is) but they also said Bayern would give Barca the priority on Ribery's bid...... anyway, it's worthless to bid Ribery while forgoing Robben.......if perez really does have this intention, he is really an hopeless idiot.

Robben is our best player, hands down and for that reason, he can't be sold. If Perez wants to bring in stars, he should build on current foundations not demolish and start another project. It could have disastrous effects or be great for us, either way it's too big a risk to take. Robben, Higuain, Sneijder, RVN, Lass, Pepe, Ramos, Casillas, Garay, Marcelo and Huntelaar are surely way too good to be thrown into the trash by Perez. Sorry, I would really be ashamed if he sold any of the above because it sickens me to see that we've gotten so desperate that we have to sell our best players to raise funds. A reader of the blog, Caracoleo wrote the other day that it's a disgrace to see Real Madrid have to take off their main striker, the same way, it's a disgrace Real Madrid are so desperate for the likes of Ronaldo and Kaka when there are loads better out there, even in our own freaking team! Hala Madrid!

The same with the likes of sneijder, hiquin, marcello, rvn and some others they shouldn't be sold eather. but i'm afraid if perez comes that's whats gonna happen so i really hope he doesn't come. I would love to see ribary come thought he and robben on the flanks and then hiquin and huntelaar upfront is a dream attack.

this is definitely not a superb season for gago, he had some gd times at the begining of the season but he'd always struggled against some big teams. he'd a ot of gd works connecting the backline and the midfield with his proper running and pace. However, his turnover rate was way too high. Most of his wrong passes caused us a lot of trouble especially against some counter attack team. his performance was somehow inconsistent. he was awesome in last game with his brilliant assisst but recretivo seems to be an inconvicible playmate for him to prove his value. In the liverpool match, i barely percieve his existence, lass was overwhelmed while gago failed to help him out. Xabi Alonso and Masharano had much better performances in that encounter(compared with gago), i still gave him credit for his hard work on defense. But there is so many area he still has to improve. at least, he has to perform consistently. He is "not yet" superb.

Robben has played less than 50% of the matches since he has been with us - fact!

Can we really afford a star player who plays less than half the matches? For me Robben's fitness has always been in question, so I am undecided.

However if Robben is to be sold - then it should only happen if Ribery or Ronaldo come to take his place. Then, at least the squad doesn't lose quality, and we gain in fitness.

Sadly, I think Sneijder has already played his last game for Real Madrid and we are on the look out for a new playmaker.

As for tonight : 2-0 to Madrid. It should be no problem, but nothing is no problem for Real Madrid.

that's just a rumor, bayern didn't announce that tehy wanted to sell ribery, but i think that would be a reasonable price for them to selling their key player(the robben of Bayern Munich) espiceally for dealing with Perez. nth will be proved until it comes true. Half time - and what a terrible first half. Schuster come back - all is forgiven! Seriously, that was appalling, dreadful, even pitiful.

Guti has been shocking, how many misplaced passes is that now? I've lost count! Gago has decided to disappear off the map. Isn't this guy supposed to be running our midfield?

Why is Marcelo playing left back? The only good performances he's ever put in are in left MIDFIELD. Van Der Vaart on the wing? Should have known Juande would do something like that.

It's a good thing these assholes don;t have Brian Clough as manager. He would drop ALL of these bastards for the next game.

terrible first half for real madrid. No creative football at all. It's pathetic to see the only way we can create our attack were those long passes from Guti, Ramos, and VDV(so far so gd). we can see how important the man arjen robben is, none of our player in the field(higuain does okay) has the ability to penetrate around and create some space. HOwever, although the messy process was ugly(created by a mess), Higuain scored another brilliant goal and saved our ass for the first half. He did fantastic on keep the balance while claimly passed through the keeper. Defensely, we kinda lost the tempo defending their swifty counterattack. We could have had our ass kicked at the 3rd min while marcelo did horribly on covering soldado. On the second half, we should take out Guti and Raul(not likely...), and put robben and M.torres, then we will have marcelo and robben playing on both flanks too.(it creates less vacancy if S.Ramos doesn't have to go up that much). but i think juande will once again take out huntelaar instead of raul.....!

What a waste of substitution Taking off Van Der Vaart then replaced by Robben who might have been doubtful with an injury only to have him get injured and substituted by Drenthe. Ramos, what are you thinking? Raul should have been taken off at half and have Van Der Vaart take his place in the middle. Higuain has gotten booked too so he will miss the next game. What is going on? Our squad keeps on getting thin with injuries or suspesions.

Metzelder still doesn't quite get used to the La Liga rhythm. He is way too slow against attacking players with quickness. And heinze....i've got nth to say about this glumsy elbow-throwing specialist, with his "crazy fouling skill" and "speed" on attack.

i can tell u only with this "spirit" is virtually not enough. Instead, we gotta play some quality football. Pepe was great except for the foul and that crazy reaction. and don't be too optimistic about this victory cuz we just beat a 2nd rank team at Bernabeu, that's just a task we ought to finish easily but we'd been struggling throughout the match. THis is absurb to say we ca beat sevilla and Barca just with this what so called "spirit", we need the quality.

Absolutely right. Thanks to our spirit we beat a poor team.

We need to start playing some football. We played crazy football near the end of that second half, and it got us into a lot of trouble.

The good thing is that Higuain has just buried Raul once and for all. I could not believe that Raul played 90 minutes. Well, I say 'play', but I use the term very loosely.

Maybe Juande didn;t realise that raul was still out there on the pitch?

Everyone is indeed crying for continuity, but it has nothing to do with Raúl. Or Saviola, for that matter. We're talking about holding on to players like Robben, Higuaín, Gago, Lass, Ramos, Pepe, Sneijder and building a team over several seasons, instead of dealing with rumours every summer that so and so might be leaving so that [insert big name here who isn't much better than the players we already have because, let's face it, we DO have good players] can come in.

Saviola really has no future here. Fact is, Huntelaar's career scoring record is better than Saviola's, including at the international level. Fact is, Higuaín has made better use of the chances given to him, and his Real Madrid record is some way ahead of Saviola's record for the last three or four years, including his relatively successful year at Sevilla. The only contention that can be made is that Saviola might play better than Raúl in his position now - but why do that when you can move Higuaín up front alongside Huntelaar and bring in Sneijder or VDV for Raúl? Or even use Heinze or Torres at left back, and push Marcelo back onto the left wing? I think anyone would prefer that to throwing in Saviola.

Okay, as for this "individual player not great team play", it cannot sustain a season. But we've seen some decent team performances this season, especially under Juande. Take a look across to Anfield where Arshavin scored four goals today. Arsenal's had problems this season but you won't find anyone complaining about the results they've had since Arshavin arrived. Have you seen Man Utd lately? It's always been acknowledged that a team must have players who can change games - for us, that player is Higuaín (it used to be Zidane, and before that Raúl, etc.). And you know the best thing about him?

HE'S ALREADY HERE! And he didn't cost 60 million, or however much they're offering now!

Why are we looking to Ronaldo and Kaka and whoever?

That's what I mean when I say I want continuity in the team!

no one doubts about Higuain even b4 today's performance. he is indeed real madrid's future and clearly change a game with his feet. i somewhat agree with u on wut u said we need consistency. however, u must notice how important wingers for this real madrid team. it's freaking clear that we'd struggling without arjen robben, therefore, several positions still need to be filled up and get replacement. but i agree that the team's structure is more important. and i personally disagree with the kaka and C. BUt there are still so many players we can get to "STRENGTHEN" the squad but not "CHANGE" it. i can tell u straight up, " the current squad that we have is impossible for us to win the CL trophy." we gotta get couple more.

I don't understand why Raul wasn't subbed. Don't fans realize the main reason why we were playing terribly was because of him? Here I'll explain. Raul was playing right behind Huntelaar as a CF who supports attacking mid. A position only the likes of Del Piero, Kaka and C. Ronaldo can do. Raul is the slowest turtle in La Liga and no dribbling technique whatsoever. In fact who should have been playing in that position was Higuan! Higuan was not playing in his position instead because of the obligation of having to make Raul play every 90mins, Juande stuck him at attacking midfield the position that should have been VDV's.

I'm sorry if you people don't realize this. But the last 2 games Raul has been the reason of why we were playing so terribly. Ruining every formation so RM can sell his shirt. Raul have some dignity and just retire.

We are the greatest team in history. Playing with 10 men for an entire season and still being able to pull off wins like this one. And when I say 10 men. Why 10 men you ask? Because Raul is not the 11th player.

It Really Hurts.

Raul is just obsessed. He was a good player. But he's too focused sometimes and doesn't realize himself sometimes; Madrid have done well marketing the player. Everyone loves him.

Imagine Raul playing in the EPL. He would never start. Not in a million years. Even his striking ability is a 1 in a million. He actually contributes into making the team slower(check RM vs Liverpool).

Football nowadays is all about speed and teamwork. La Liga is just despicable lately.

Message to Raul, Retire as a Legend. Or retire as the worst disappointment in RM's history. Mark my words. You are going that way.

Very very true but aside from him, the team-selection was fine, I don't get why everybody was complaining. We don't have wingers and that's the reason we played Higuain on the right, a position where he's quite comfortable. Would you have rather seen VDV and Drenthe on the wing or VDV and Higuain? The substitutions were a little weird though. I think everyone, even the Raulista's need to realise Raul is not even a shadow of his old self and only when the fans of Raul stop being so retarded will the club be able to bench Raul without hearing heavy criticism. Most of us are not demanding that he be fired or retired but rather benched. We want him to play but not in every single game and in every minute of every single game =D

I wouldn't him playing against Barcelona or Sevilla as long as he scores. If he doesn't play well, replace him with someone else. If he is benched and someone else is not playing well, send him in. As simple as that -- I am pragmatic =D

My worst nightmare has come true. Arjen Robben has been ruled out for 2-3 weeks which makes a return to El Clasico nearly impossible. So for the game with Sevilla we have no Sneijder, Robben, Pepe and possibly Higuain, spells doom doesn't it. In the last Clasico, I was dreading the fact that Robben couldn't make it and he could have led us to victory but just when we thought we had hope, this happens :\ It's going to take a miracle for us to beat Barca, forget the title, with our best players down and out. Can the likes of Marcelo, Drenthe, VDV, Guti or even Palanca ste-up to be our wing-wizard? I think not. I am all but resigned to losing the title now :\

He is a cheerleader all that's missing are those pom poms. I was his biggest supporter when it wasn't going so well for him at the beginning of the season but his time is up he needs to realize this i don't want him to go but for the benefit of the team he needs to be rested some games. By clapping his hands when a good pass comes his way and he misses it doesn't inspire the other players scoring goals inspires players example HIGUAN.

And on count of how bad Madrid's doctors have been at predicting injury lengths this season, you know with the whole Sneijder thing and all, I wouldn't be surprised if he makes El Clasico. I'll be praying for it everyday. Though, if he puts out the same line-up as against Betis/Gijon which I thought was quite well-balanced and instead of Raul, puts on VDV, it will be like we never lost him. Though, as you indirectly stated, it's a shame that a club as big as Real Madrid depends so much on Raul. We haven't heard the last of Robben this season.

There's still time and opportunities for him to get injured again!

If we get a good offer in the summer -SELL!!!
And buy Ribery or Cristiano.

Nobody has really commented on Juande's tactics. I thought he was all over the shop, although I'm no expert of course. Was Cannavaro injured? Why play Javi Garcia at centre back?

More to the point, why play Gago at centre back? Jeeeesuus!

Drenthe: I take back what I said about him. It wasn't the match for him, the stakes were too high, and Juande chose one of the most pressurised matches of the season to reintroduce to the Bernabeu a player whose confidence had plummeted. Bad decision in hindsight, although he got one useful cross in to the box - shame it was Raul who appeared on the end of it.

It probably would have been better to bring on Torres at left-back.

Marcelo: This guy is useless at left back. Useless. Notice how Getafe's 2 goals came from breaks down Marcelo's flanks. He claims he is a defender, but any sane person would beg to differ with him. He should never play at left back - ever, especially when he spend his time doing 360 turns against 2 defenders.
His position is left midfield, for sure.

Guti: Finally, some good news; we discover how and when Guti can play a useful role in the team: When the match has descended into utter farce, and both teams are going toe to toe trading punches (Pepe - don't take that literally!!!!!!!!!). Guti's first 60 minutes were horrendous, although his goal was sublime.

Real Madrid need to understand this is our team... we fans were here longer than them now... Drop the bullshit and show some professionalism, we had a president who's a clown; we lost all respect from other teams because of him. Our players are like paper getting an injury once a month. Seriously our blood has dried out. We want change and we want it now.

I wonder if we can even draw them even though robben could play. furthermore, i just wanna know how many of you think we can beat seville away from home without Pepe, Robben, and Higuain. im curious to know. b4 u answer this question, please define what the different bw "hope" and "think" is. for me, i think we nee anotehr miracle......!!

Higuain will most likely be allowed to play because his yellow will be taken off because he clearly did not dive but he has to be careful because if he picks up a yellow he will miss El Classico.. and Lass will be back.. also possibly Heinze.. so we will be missing Robben,Pepe, and Sneijder but I truly believe Metzelder will come in and do a good job every game he filled in for us he has done well I believe and also Lass and Gago will again play double pivot therefore covering up the Sneijder loss.. and yeah we will miss Robben but we have to have someone step up Guti can help us again, VDV can play better, and Drenthe or Marcelo can help us out on the wing

We haven't heard the last of Robben this season.

There's still time and opportunities for him to get injured again!

If we get a good offer in the summer -SELL!!!
And buy Ribery or Cristiano.

Nobody has really commented on Juande's tactics. I thought he...

you are so right about marcelo, he made a pre-match comment responding some due who said Marcelo should be in the LB position cuz he is fast. But whether he is fast enough to chase a Ferrari has nth to do with whether he is a great sideback or not. He could be doing okay on man-on-man defense(periodically) but he lacks a sense of "positioning". in the 3rd minute, some Getafe due crossed the ball in from our right, Marcelo was supposed to cover Soldado but he left him enough space to strike the ball(wild) without putting some pressure on him. so similar case to the first goal we lost.(u can take a look at where he was standing at from the replay clip). he always left so much space for the wingers to cross. He sucks on defense. But for drenthe, i don't know if there is still a player available for Juande to use to replace injuried Robben. who's to blame? u go ask Mr. MijatoBitch where the winger is at. Did he say we could have one addtional winger after winter?? where is the guy?

lol, playing faubert is worst than playing raul dude..

we should play a 4-2-2.. the two central midfielders being gago and lassana, and two attacking midfielders being VDV and higuain.. raul and hunterlaar up front.. its not like juande is going to drop raul, provided his 'rich vein of form' *cough*.. and plus, he isn't going to play higuain as a striker, so the formation above should be ok i guess.. either that, or use the formation we used against sporting gijon i think, the match where the hunter scored his 1st goal..

i believe our main problem is inconsistency ! we do have players who can produce magic as we've seen before,BUT not week in week out.gago did a superb assists against recre but faded last time out, huntelaar whose been on fire then went silent, sneijder with a good game in bilbao but woeful in the next match.that is just to name a few.we just have a bunch of average gutis for players.that is unacceptable if your want to actually win something.we need more of players who can maintain playing at the highest level.however im not supporting the idea of building back from scratch, but i believe more of improving on our current team.juande has been here for what,4 months??and were still playing with the lack of confidence and teamwork as we did as when he first started.we might have improved a bit but that is not enough.we need to be better than playing like a bunch of kids kicking the ball with no sense of purpose !

Well said. But Marcelo CAN be be played at wing-back but only when we're platying the double pivot of Lass and Gago like against Recre where Marcelo was very impressive. I didn't really get his position against Getafe, it was like he was doing both left-midfield and defence because VDV was constantly out-of-position, I don't really think it's fair to criticise Marcelo when he was doing double his work, even if we did it poorly. He was provided no cover when he went up either. Pfft, lets just all look towards the future. Hala Madrid!

Lass's absence did affect marcelo a little bit but he was apparently not suitable for his "familiar" LB position in the next couple matches. Most of his apprent turnover had nth to do with lacking of covering. he is the one who didn't rotate and cover others and standing still at the same spot marking no one. He will be great keeping playing on the wing(temporarily).

our attack seemed so infertile without robben last clasico... but theres a difference now.. we would not go into the match looking to draw, we WILL win!! our team isn't the strongest in europe, and we are nowhere close to that, but, clasico's are not based on current form, clasico's are driven by the will and passion of the players.. 3 years ago, during the start of the 2006/2007 season, we won 2-0 against a barca side in the bernabeu, that had just won the european champions league, and was just as strong as their current side.. this clasico isn't going to be like the last one in the bernabeu where we won 4-1, a lot has changed since then.. but one thing that isn't going to change, is the victory for us, which is going to be a very close match.. HALA MADRID!!

Obviously, he doesn't score as frequently but he's an amazing defender, WAY too good for Racing. I would actually say he's as good if not better than Pepe. His performance yesterday, against Athleti was amazing and it goes to show what an agile defender can do. Cannavaro is great and all but he has no pace and is made a fool of when we face the likes of Aguero, Torres etc but Garay made Aguero and Forlan look like babies. he is gd but one fullback might not solve all the problems if Cannavaro, Metzelder and Heinze leave. We need to have one more additional quality fullback. I kinda look up to Chiellini since he is capable to play on the left. though, i kinda worry'bout Chiellini's speed and Philip Lahm is the only LB who can attack and defend perfectly. anywayz, either one of them will straighten our defence a lot. I don't suggest on Bruno Alvez. He is great but i agree with u that Garay pretty much can do wut Bruno Alvez can do(that's just my personally opinion). and that Zapata from Udinese is also a very gd choice for us(he may be cheaper than Bruno).

It doesn't show we need to sell, it means we need more class. We need to sell fringe players to bring in some class. And whoever says we should sell Robben should really think twice considering him, Lass and Higuain has triple-handedly kept our season alive and I don't see any reason to sell him. Well, I totally disagree with you that Cannavaro has no pace and is not made a of fool of when we face the likes of Aguero, Torres or even Maradonna. As a matter of fact, he was the only defender who was capable of stopping Messi in the first Clasico this season (check the vids on YouTube) and he has always saved our butt. What Cannavaro needs to perform in an excellent level is an excellent partner and he found that in Pepe. When those two folks play together, our defense is stronger. Haven't you noticed that?

The same goes with Italy. Cannavaro has formed a great partnership with Matterazzi and this was appearent in the World Cup.

I'm not saying that Garay shouldn't be at Real, he should be, but unless one of our defenders proves they are as good as Cannavaro (in terms of football and attitude) then we should keep him. We don't want people as foolish as people who would blow it up.

For all the RM fans, the El Classico is far more meaningful than any others. so even if we get our asskicked by Seville and being hopeless to the title, we will still be honorable for beating Barca at home. Technically, i would say it's almost impossible(so unfortunately). but I think the only driven force for us to win barca is the "spirit" which can maintain our morale up high. BUt honestly if we play like how we did against Getafe(the last couple min), we can lose more than 3-4 goals against barca. Barca's recent form is horribly great. their rotation, pace, and passing were fantastic against Sevilla and Bayern munich(the 1st leg). The key to destroy them is to play dirty as much as possible in the midfield but this can affect us on attack. i just hope juande can appropriately come up with a tactic against them(offensively and defensively). But think of myself as Juande, i find it's almost impossible. I just hope they'll get all exhausted and shit after playing Chelsea. I hope Messi, Inesta(especially him), and Xavi can get injuried at the same time.....

Both Fernando Gago and Higuain have 4 yellows meaning if they recieve one tommorow they will be suspended for El Classico

hello every body!!! i have been visiting this blog for a very long period of time and since the season started i have noticed us fans discussing about who should start and who should be in the squad and which player should be bought...it just my opinion that to much interference from the fans in the...

Not all of them but since I spent quite a lot of my life in Madrid, it's really annoying. It's their stupid views which matter compared to those who actually know shit. Though, you're right about one thing, we think winning is our right which does get annoying sometimes but you must undersatdn that...

BTW everyone deserves a second chance...look at barcelona they gave a second chance to laporta and he completely transformed barca in to monster or rather team of mean machines...

yeah man, it's so fraustrated to see our broken squad b4 the El Classico. I think you would know that im such a fan who advocates beautiful football all the time and i always hope my team can take down any other teams in a brilliant way and i hate dirty football so much too. however, as a matter of fact, i just can't come up any tactic in my mind that we can beat team(of course, im not a professional football coach). wut i tryna express early on is that we gotta put as much as pressure to them in the midfield, even our strikers must come back to defend. that's the only way to reduce their possessing time. and I agree with u, football is football, it's somewhat unpredictable forever, and that's wut i hope too. once again, it's all about Higuain, our hope to win, or maybe we can rely on some setpiece to score(feeling ashamed to say this, this could never happen in the Zidane and Figo team).

Yeah man, he just ruined himself u no, mostly against his reputation. That's so silly and so unprofessional. He appeared to be the most important man in our backline this season(except for Iker) and he did such a silly thing b4 the most important mth, that's stupid. The solid backline is our biggest advantage against barca, but now...... i don't think Metzelder can replace him cuz he is way too slow against the barca players.

that's true, this geneartion's dutch players seem much less entertaining compared with the 90's. I don't mean our dutch players lack of quality but they don't seem capable on playing possession football as gd as Spanish players.

well i persenaly think robben is the most entertaining one in the squad but yeah the rest of the dutch are not soo.. real needs to buy more spanish players though i mean after all it's real madrid and liverpool has even more spanish players as real.

Robben is great and has the ability to beat up everyone. However, in term of "possession football", he is still not mature enough to participate in the passing games. simple, just make a comparison bw robben and david Silva. they are both great wingers with great dribbling skill. and i personally think Robben is even better on penetrating and speed. But David Silva can do way better on "connecting" and properly "mainteining" the possession for the team. brilliant robben can beat 2 to 3 defenders anytime but he always also left his teammates behind cuz he lacks a sense of communication with others. He somehow had himself isolated after dribble through couple of defenders and his teamate coudln't catch up with him. This is the coach's responsiblity to establish such a communication bw each player. this is the key thing to play possession football. Just look at how the Spain national team performed in Euro 2008. I personally like that kind of football rather than the one we are playing now.

So who would you all Madridistas start tommorow got to keep in mind that Gago and Higuain both cannot pick up yellows or they would be suspended for El Classico.. so I think a good option would maybe not to start Gago and play Lass with Guti and VDV or another possbility is to play Lass with Javi Garcia what do you all think

I want the line-up to look like this; Casillas, Ramos, Cannavaro, Metzelder, Torres, Higuain, Lass, Gago, Marcelo, VDV, Huntelaar. VDV should play as a supporting striker in my formation. Hala Madrid!

What about Mr Raul madrid he will start any game coz he is king whos what king that guy is letting down the team he should just be on the bench and next season out of the team completely.i think he is the one blocking David villa to come to madrid.guys you might think iam joking but Raul has a lot of influence around the team .yes great player yesteryears but must quit now. i hope we win at sevilla today to keep up with Barca but a very difficult game for us

Seville is gonna be our biggest obstacle to keep up with Barca. It wouldnt be an easy task for us to beat them away from home even if we could play with full team. TheAngelofMadrid's lineup will be the best for us tommorow, it's better be like a 4-5-1 formation with Higuain and Marcelo playing at both side while VDV play as his most familiar "number 10" role. But i think raul will be started as usual(unreasonably) and i dun really look gd on this. I've started praying............and hope that we can turn things around with another miracle.

His influence is obvious and your opinion is shared my many on this board. But Raul will always be the man I named my profile after, and that's not going to change =D Though, his playing days are at their end. He has no chance under Perez. If Perez wants the likes of Higuain, Robben and Sneijder gone, God help Il Capitano. Hala Madrid!
