Real Madrid VS Real Union | Copa Del Rey Second Leg Preview

Real Madrid VS Real Union - Copa Del Rey | 11/11/2008 21:00 CET | Santiago Bernabeu

Saviola against Real Union

From the Champions League to La Liga and now to Copa Del Rey, Real Madrid hope to revive again and beat Real Union when they come to the Santiago Bernabeu this Tuesday.

Real Union beat us 3-2 in the first leg. Schuster played most of the bench folks and the defense was very bad as it was against Malaga last nigh, and now they couldn't come at a worst time because Diarra has joined the sickbay which already hosts Van Nistelrooy, Pepe, Robben and Torres.

The Mali international got injured after the match against Malaga and he is set to be out for ten days. As for the other players, I haven't heard any updates yet, but it is certain that Van Nistelrooy and Robben won't play because they need more than a month or two to recover.

Real Union

So they give a hell of a fight in the first leg. I didn't watch the match but from the highlights and reports I understood that they were dangerous. They will be coming for a win, they are well-motivated as we are still in a tough position.

However, playing in the Bernabeu is never easy. The fact that Juventus beat us in our stadium doesn't mean that can be achieved by another team - Juventus were not any team and Del Piero was not any player and I bet they say if they would face us again they would find it very difficult to beat us.

Lineup

I'm not sure but I think Ramos' red card also extends to Copa Del Rey. If so, Salgado will play as a right-back.

Schuster will probably start Dudek in goal. Cannavaro and Metzelder in central defense if the German trainer realizes that Heinze ruins our game and makes a lot of mistakes, while Marcelo will play as a left-back.

In midfield, with both Diarra and De La Red (he might make the squad, though) out, Schuster will likely start with Gago along with Guti in central midfield.

I'm here thinking that we could use Snejder on the left-wing, but the German might continue using the ineffective Drenthe. This could mean that Sneijder will either play on the right or sit on the bench and if he does gets benched, VDV will likely play on the right.

In attack, common sense says that Higuain should start, and he MUST. I'm also pretty sure that Schuster will also start Rau'l, because he can't bench him for another game or he will be giving the axe - just kiddin' ;)

Dudek, Salgado, Cannavaro, Metzelder, Marcelo, Gago, Guti, Drenthe, Sneijder/VDV, Rau'l, Higuain.

Prediction

If Schuster keeps using the 4-2-3-1 formation or anything other than 4-3-3, benches Heinze and starts Higuain, I'm sure we will win. I predict a 3-1 win. Higuain scores the opener, Sneijder scores the second from a free-kick and Saviola comes in later and scores the winner.

Well, whats your thoughts, prediction and lineup?

Hala Madrid!

No Real B team won't beat them. We need to stay humble and don't underestimate them. We need to work hard!

Van Der Vaart, Sneijder, Nistelrooy and Higuain could all take penalties.

There was different days on the English and the Spanish version. It' now fixed, same day, 11/11 (tuesday), on both versions.
Yes, they are going to play Salgado (or Torres?) tomorrow. They will use this match to fix Ramos red card.

azzurri16// In that case it would have been better if the match was today? You know, late in bed and up early. You have school on Wednesday I suppose? Tired, tired....But hopefully happy ;)

Why Heinze in and Cannavaro out? And where is Higuain? Remember, this is a must win game.

ِِAny team must have two or three players to takes penalty, may be from defence or even the goalkeaper, but Higuain I think he is not the rihgtone he was nearly missed the two penalty against malaga :\

I wonder if Saviola ever went up to the coach and asked to be given a chance....seeing the situation at the club and the crisis in the striking department. If he did and was ignored then the coach is an arse. I am sure he gives his all in training. As much as a hero higuain is, he can't do it alone. We don't need to but a world class striker in january....we have one since approx. 2 years on the bench.
