Real Madrid Vs Villarreal | La Liga Preview

Real Madrid Vs Villarreal - La Liga | 04/01/2009 - 17:00 CET | Santiago Bernabeu

If there is one thing that I hate about holidays then it is the fact that there is no football (except in Engalnd, of course) so I'm glad that everyone is back at work and Real Madrid is playing tomorrow night, and excited to see Huntelaar and Lass in the white shirt.

Our rivals, Villarreal, have never won at the Bernabeu which is WOW. I mean, they are regarded as a great team, yet they have never beaten us at our stadium. This shows you how great Real Madrid is and how other teams are ALWAYS DESPERATE to beat us.

Since 1998 they have only beaten us once elsewhere -- that is in their stadium, in the street or in any other stadium on the planet.

But history is history, because what matters tomorrow is what you do on the pitch, right?

Right, news is that Pepe and Heinze have fully recovered and may return to the starting lineup tomorrow night. Christopher Metzelder looks to be ready as well and he'd be wearing a mask to protect his nose if he played.

However, Gonzalo Higuain won't play due to acute tonsillitis, while Van der vaart looks to be in good shape.

Newly signed striker, Huntelaar has fully recovered from his ankle injury and could make his dream start along Rau'l up front.

Lass Diarra is fit as well and so he should make his debut tomorrow unless Juande decides otherwise.

Lineup

Casillas,

Ramos, Cannavaro, Metzelder, Marcelo

Gago, Guti

Robben   --- VDV

Rau'l --- Saviola/Huntelaar

Prediction

Juande knows that every single match matters. We must win as many matches as possible in order to catch up with Barcelona and what a better time to start off than in the beginning of the new year. Having said that, I'm sure it is gonna be difficult, but if we play as we did against Valencia (but this time without wasting tons of chances), I'm sure we'll win.

I'm gonna predict a 2-1 win for us, whoever scores.

What do you guys think?

Hala Madrid!

I think that it will be 3-1 to Real if both Huntelaar and Robben play. I hope that the midifeld is lass and gago instead of guti and gago and the rest of the team is the same. this way we can rely on the fullbacks to get forward more, with someone covering for them, allowing VDV/Sneijder to cut in and do what they do best

I am predicting a 4-0 win for us,Raul scores 2 ,Robben and Huntelaar will score the other two,its going to be a true battle but hopefully we are going to win with a clean sheet, take my words Madridistas,a 4-0 WIN :D ,as for Huntelaar i think its going to be his best debut ever,so please dont let me down Hunti!

Robben will run Capdevila and Javi Venta ragged, simple as that. Sneijder will keep on shooting from 20-30 yeard and he's bound to nail one. Huntelaar will combine the pace and finishing, something we've lacked since a long time. Casillas, well, you know him, he'll be unbeatable =D That's the new Real Madrid for you ;) I feel it's going to be 3-0 thanks to Robben, Raul and Huntelaar, scoring one each. If Saviola plays then he'll score instead of Huntelaar. Sneijder could score from long-range too.....umm....this is too confusing :? But i'm sticking with the scoreline. We will win big, hopefully. I hope Lass also gets a chance to prove his pricetag to us Madridistas and considering the fact that some of you still criticize Gago even though he cost 16m, that's going to take some time :P Hala Madrid! :D

gd idea for putting two holding midfielders but i thk Lass is more likely to stay in the bench first. It's kinda hard for us to keep the balance since we still can get our new winger

my estimated result is 2-0/3-1. Hopefully our team can kick back to the level they were playing last season. And that will be perfect if we can take down the yello submarine with a clean sheet. But we can't rely on the statistic from the previous encounters. We must look to the future and try our best to play every single team. The game against Sevilla 'd already taught us a lesson and we can't afford to lose any match against our main rivals. Good news is that Pepe and Heinze are finally recovered, so at least the defensive line should have no problem. And i personally admire MadridPrince's suggestion to put lass and gago in the midfield in order to snatch more possession. But i thk Juade would more likely put Robben, Guti, Gago, and Sneijer as starters(which means we have to give up one side since we've only got 1 robben). and i can't wait to see the Raul+Hunt's combo. i have gd expectation set on them since i thk Raul can help Jan to get used to the RM style footabll quickly. Hala Madrid!!

UPDATE: Juande says he is not sure whether huntelaar will start or come on as a sub to change the match

i thnk it is better if he starts. if we are able to get 3 quick goals at the start then this match could turn out to be like last seasons when we destroyed villareal

I like the positivity =D I can see that happening but only if everybody performs or we're super clinical like we were last season. The time Villareal lost 5-0 was really weird. They dominated the game yet still, we won 5-0 :P I used to love that amazing touch and hopefully, The Hunter will fill RVNs boots. I bet Robben will be on fire again, he's just amazing. He can be that player with flair that every team needs. He just needs to stay away from injuries and I guarantee you he will be right up there with Messi. He's already outshined Ronaldo this season :) Hala Robben, Hala Madrid! :D

totally agree. in robben's time in england he always outshone c.ronaldo. ronaldo had an awesome season scoring 17 goals and then when it was chelsea v man utd at the end of the season, it was robben that was the star man and cristiano had gone totally missing. that was unntil crappy wes brown gave robben the injury that made his levels drop and made him miss the start of last campaign for madrid. I hope robben doesn't get injured this season, especially against the big teams in the champions league

There's a difference between expectation and probabilty, you know Robben will eventually rip Villareal to shreds and we'll claim a good victory :P If we're talking about expectations, I expect Messi, Iniesta and Xavi to be out for the season =D Just kidding mate, I think you should know that we're not the same Real that we were under Schuster. it isn't really" wow" that they never won, they've only been in the top flight for 9 years, promoted for the 1st time in 1998, so they've come a long way.Considering they were relegated the same season and then finally promoted the next season for the final time, it means they really have only probably gone there 7 times in the league since promotion, and they only became really good in 2004.

Benfica coach Quique Sanchez Flores accepts star winger Angel di Maria will soon be sold.

Real Madrid are favourites for the Argentina international, whose agent, Jorge Mendes, has a good relationship with Real sports director Predrag Mijatovic.

For his part, Sanchez Flores conceded last night: "We all know that Di Maria is a player that sooner or later will be sold. This is not something new. It's a reality and we have to admit it."

Real Madrid have suffered yet another injury setback, with Dani Parejo, who has only just returned to the club, being ruled out for at least three weeks. The young midfielder collided with Guti in a training session on Friday, suffering a twisted knee in the process

First guti is holding the club back by not retiring and now he has resorted to injuring players who can take him out of the team. i wouldn't be suprised if he played a hand in the injuries of diarra and de la red, if i was lass, VDV or sneijder i would steer clear of guti and make sure he doesn't tamper with my food

Tevez is awesome and all but i'd much rather have Benzema in the team. Benzema at only 20 years of age is regarded by many as World-Class and his future holds much greater things. tevez is 26 if I am not wrong and he's not getting playing time though that's not his fault. He's much better than Berbatov and he should not be benched. He would still be a great signing though another striker would mean we have to make more room. My ideal signings for the summer are Ribery, Chiellini and Benzema. What a team it would be =D

ermm oops I forgot him...he will definatly start...I think instead of Drenthe...10x btw ;)

I think Ribery still should be signed since we all know how young Di Maria is...(and might be a failure) and also the amount of injuries Robben will probably have.(Hopefully not)

As for the Guti thing...HE'S THE SECOND CAPTAIN!!!Is this some king of joke? 8O However I don't think he should be a starter...VDV,Sneijder and Gago should be played before him.

Finally I can't understand why everybody is still speaking about striker signings...I think we DEFINATLY don't need any strikerss....and no more strikers are needed for atleast the next two years...(Don't forget we have Bueno,Palanca and if I'm not mistaken Acuna too in the youth system).

Lol. I know he wouldnt, unless he is secretly an evil mastermind planning on taking over real madrid. I am just annoyed parejo got injured bumping into him

But out of all that i said, the true part is that he is holding the team back. Players like guti annoy me because they have the ability to be outstanding but they only perform to that level when the have to save their own ass. guti can have matches when you think that there is no better midfielder than him when it comes to passing and vision but then (most of the time) he has matches where he makes endless amount of rookie mistakes. I am happy that we have players who can offer what guti offered but also more. these are gago, de la red and parejo. gago has improved alot and has the ability to control games, de la red needs more experience but is a player with great vision and shot. i haven''t seen parejo play yet but he is said to be the most promising player out of the youth team. i think that real should use these players in a squad rotation to give them more experience

I think this could mean that diarra starts with gago. i doubt he will use both VDV and sneijder as it will the be a too attack minded midfield with gago, VDV, sneijder and robben (even though i would love to see that some day). it may work against against lower level teams but not villreal, so the most likely replacement would be diarra or javi garcia, either one is an improvement from guti
