Real Union 3-2 Real Madrid | Copa Del Rey | De La Red Collapses During The Match | Review Added

Saviola

First off, there is some worrying news. Ruben De La Red suddenly collapsed during the match and had to be taken to hospital.

He fell as he was walking away from the penalty area in the 13th minute. Initial tests revealed that he suffered a sudden drop in blood pressure. He is still in hospital for observation.

As for the game, I didn't watch it because, yes, my soccer channel doesn't broadcast Copa Del Rey games. I just followed it through the match center (Thanks again to Kristen and Hamdi for the coverage) and it was a very thrilling game.

Real Union won 3-2; Juan Dominquez scored their first goal just two minutes after the kick-off. Higuain, who is enjoying a great form, equalized just seven minutes later.

However, Juan Dominquez scored again in the 20th minute to make it 2-1. Saviola scored our second in the second half, but ten minutes later, Real Union struck again, this time by Iñaki Goikoetxea Beristain (weird name, huh?) to win the first leg.

It looks like that we had many chances. I think Saviola missed one-on-one twice. I'm very happy he played tonight and scored. I'd like him to play in our next game too.

I can't wait to take revenge in the second leg. As I expected, they were not easy to beat and we hadn't ever played them before.

If you watched the game, please, I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts.

P.S: There was a piece of news that Calderon used club credit cards to pay for certain stuff. He denied it, I'll try to blog about it tomorrow, otherwise, tell us the story in the comments.

Hala Madrid!

Update :

Hey guys, It's Hamdi and I'll be reviewing the game this time around.

The 32nd round of the King's cup had one of the most thrilling matches ever. Two teams challenged the odds with Ejido who thrashed Villarreal with 5 goals to nil and, well Real Madrid had their most awkward moments in the season and eventually lost 3-2 to much better team, an Impressive Real Union.

The game started and we could feel the urge to score first by both teams. Real Union were surprising with it first moves as they moved swiftly and moved well off the ball. That eventually worked off and a killer ball was thrown into the six yard box which promoted a one-on-one for Juan Dominguez who slotted the ball past Dudek announcing the first goal for Real Union in the second minute of the game.

To the surprise of all Real Union fans, they were one goal ahead, so Real Madrid started the hunt for the equalizer with a series of one - two on both these wings by Drenthe and Marcelo. This resulted in the first goal for the Whites, Higuain with a touche of a true legend in the making beat the keeper and slotted it past him in great manner, Guti as always made the assist.

The thirteenth minute carried with it a very bad news for Los Blancos, Ruben De la Red passed out on the ground and he was in some some sort of seizure ( He was not challenged), utter silent took over the field as he was carried away for treatment and Javi Garcia was brought in. A sudden drop in blood pressure was determined the cause after he was transferred to the Hospital. Lets hope he gets well soon because well I like the lad.

After the shock of losing an important player like De La Red, Real Madrid were overtaken by a very tactically mature Real Union who had a really dangerous direct free kick and a corner both saved brilliantly by Jerzy. In the 20th minute, Villar crossed on a run from the left wing and the ball was headed home by Juan Domingues again! Saviola had a chance on goal but he was pulled for offside while the teams retreated till the end of the first half whistle.

The second half started but was stopped for lack of visibility due to fireworks thrown at the Real Union Goal. After it was removed the action went on and it did not take Saviola to plant the equalizer in the net after an impressive turning ball inside the six yard box. 63 Minutes into the match and the teams were looking for the winning goal, it was Real Union who took their chances with a very well executed move on the right wing resulting in a cross on the edge of the box, a shot by Goikoetxea ( What a name!) and 3-2 is the score. Hienze replied with a header but was pulled for offside.

Confidence was soaring for Real Union as they executed an attack after another with a shot saved by Dudek, Barrue's chance after a corner and Goikoetxea lob which went over the par. Saviola was tripped in the six yard which was a penalty but it was over ruled by the Ref.

To the dismay of Los Blancos fans, Real Madrid lost the match to a better side on the day Real Union .. Final score 3-2 , I'd love to see how do Real Madrid react in the second leg.

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed my review of the game .. Hala Madrid and have a great day.

Man i saw when it happened it was like he was having a seizure one of the most scariest things to watch it brought back those memories of antonio puerta but hopefully he will make a full recovery and everything will be fine for him. As for the game i think the original shock of de la red got to the players they were able to come back twice but fell with the last goal. There wasn't much flare with the Real players but we have to the 2 away goals going back home. By the way here is a good website if you are interested in watching pretty much every soccer game. LINK internet explorer required none of that mac stuff.

I didn't watch the match but it's nothing but a Copa Del Rey match and there's nothing to get worried about, we'll most definetly win at home. As for De la Red, I just hope he gets better and this doesn't turn out to be another Puerta scene. Hala Madrid!

No Ruben is okay and has spoken to his family. He should arrive in Madrid today.

Dr. Juan Carlos Hernández says:

"Rubén lost conciousness, but recovered on the pitch. He is now in a hospital, where several tests he's undergone have revealed everything's normal. He will spend the night in hospital and will rejoin the team in Madrid tomorrow."

I am sure that Real Madrid will qualified in the second round, but this match show us that our team is not in good forum,I think the reason is the trainer.
Real Madrid team is bigger than Schuster!!!!

Yes Capello brought the spirit and installed a good foundation but also Schuster contributed to the team. He is by no means as good as Capello but he is a good coach.

I'm not at all worried by the defeat to Real Union and I do believe that the team is in great form.

I guess the meeting with Diego might have been a major factor for Gonzalo's five star with four goals performance. Just looks at him going around the Malaga's defense.

He should get his well deserve call up sooner rather than later.
