Who Is Real Madrid's Best Player Of The Season?

Written by Adam Bader on Tuesday, 03 June 08, 11:58 PM

Real Madrid players

Thats a tough question, clearly because the whole team played very well throughout the season. However, there have been some consistent performances from some players and thats why I thought I'd write this post.

We are not going to nominate every player, but rather those who have played consistently and well. We'll then have a poll and let Madridistas from everywhere vote - thats fair, I think.

Here are the nominees:

Iker Casillas
Saint Casillas has been recently awarded the Zamora Trohpy and has been consistent throughout the season. His unique talent, fast movement and reaction have helped the team on many occasions - let alone his relationship with his teammates (especially with Dudek).

Rau'l
IL Captiano has had a very impressive season scoring 17 goals. His leadership, skills and determination were very helpful to the team and besides Casillas he was the one who played in most of the matches. Rau'l had been completely dead before Schuster took over the team but since the German played him his in his favorite position, Rau'l has produced results especially against big rivals.

Sergio Ramos
Ramos has played well this season, however, he was sent-off many times - something which is not good. If we are going to judge him on what he did for us on the pitch, then we can't deny that he was crucial, but once again, he should learn how to keep his temper.

Guti
People call him "the king of assists" and he truly is. Guti has proved that he is vital for Madrid and has always helped the team to win especially in tough clashes. After Schuster took over, it was rumored that he'd to leave, but the German trainer, and in his first press conference, said that Guti would be engine of his team and he actually was.

Robinho, Sneijder, Pepe or Higuain?
I don't know who should be nominated here and so I'll leave that to you. The four players have played exceptionally well, especially Higuain who scored crucial goals, but it's all up to you to decide.

Now, If you think that someone shouldn't be in the list at all (which is unlikely), just leave a comment and we'll discuss it below. The poll can be found below - you can only vote for one player and it would be great if you state why you voted for him in the comment section below;)

Hala Madrid!

Well, Casillas is probably the overall best player in the whole Real squad and Ramos is certainly the best young player, but I think that Guti and Raul jointly deserve the title. In addition to consistently providing great performances- especially in the more critical circumstances- they were the leaders of the team, possessing invaluable experience and a good team mentality.

My choice is Raul, not only for his performance in sports this season, but for his devotion to the club. Casillas is very good, but this defense made it's impact on Casillas' performance.

I kindaa agree with you that our defense helped Casillas a lot this season, but to be fair, and in my humble opinion, I believe that Casillas deserves it more than Rau'l.

Yes, Rau'l scored 17 goals, smashed Barcelona, Valencia and saved us a few times, but It was Casillas who performed exceptionally well.

Anyway, thats just what I think ;)

In my view no one comes close to Iker Casillas!Compare the number of goals scored and created by others to the number of goals Casillas saves for Real Madrid in a single game let alone the whole season. He hasn't been splendid this season but ever since the Champions League final against Bayer Leverkusen.Raul would have been my other choice obviosuly because of his devotion and never say die attitude.A true Madrid legend!

I think the whole team made an exceptional season but Casillas was the best. Raul in the 2nd place.Higuain is a promising player .From newly coming is Pepe.

Casillas ~nods~ by a long shot. Though he finally had a good defence in front of him, he was still the most shot upon goalkeeper in la liga and still had the best record. Irreplacable, legend, best.

Saint Iker gets my vote!....Higuain/ramos comes in a close second for me, although when coming to think about it Ramos may have a slight edge, then guti/sneijer tied for third...make that 4th haha

It's very difficult to select the best player! becouse what we saw this season was a TEAM playing as a team and the percentage of contribution towards our success so far 100% for all the players. But since the award has to
go to a single player I am closing my eyes and choose CASILLAS then followed by Great RAUL.

Rajab, I like your site, its very well put together. I voted for Casillas, as he was incredible this season with winning the Zamora and such. He was tremendous and has to be considered the worlds best now. So how cant he be the player of the season?

Thanks, Correy! Thats encouraging!
Yes, indeed. Casillas deserves it more than anybody else, but I'm just kindda democratic (I support Barack, btw) and thought it wouldn't harm to let other people vote ;) lol

;) guys please truly raul deserves that title he is a true legend casillas just performed his job its obvious that player would shoot in the goal and he has to save them but a true player is he who shows his spirit in the most difficult time now its obvious by this that really raul truly deserves this respect, a true captain a leader who raised the spirit of the team in the most crucial times. :D

thats absoluetly right thats the way in which someone recieves the highest ranks. really raul is not one of my favourite players but the things he does really does impress me. every one is choosing casillas becouse of his good saves so these guys are thinking like this if someone scores a goal from a half line so tahts better than scoring from inside the d. guys think typically there is no difference between this a goal is a goal from no matter where u have shot it and really he is playing from 1994 and what he has done for the team no one NO ONE reaches to him. player like inzaghi, figo, roberto carlos if admitt these things whydont you
