Javier Saviola To Liverpool?

Monday, 02 February 09, 06:49 AM

Javier Saviola: an unhappy spectator

The English press is reporting that Liverpool could sign Javier Saviola from Real Madrid on a loan-deal as a temporary replacement for Robbie Kean.

"The Rabbit" as dubbed by many of his fans, moved to Real Madrid in 2007 from Barcelona but failed to reserve a position in the starting lineup mainly due to the presence of players like Van Nistelrooy, Higuain and Rau'l.

Also the signing of Huntelaar has made it pretty difficult for Saviola to fight for a place in the forward line.

Juande Ramos even suggested publicly that Saviola should look for another club. To make it worse for the talented striker, he was excluded from Real Madrid's Champions League squad.

As you can see, Saviola is clearly "unwanted" at the Bernabeu, and I personally think that he has been unfairly treated. First by Schuster who asked the club to sign him, but rarely counted on him and when he did, Saviola impressed and sometimes scored.

It is sad to see the talent of such a player being wasted at big clubs. First at Barcelona and now at Real Madrid. The only thing I have to say to Saviola is to go to a club where they "guarantee" him a place in the starting eleven but I'm not sure Liverpool is that club.

What do you think?

Hala Madrid!

Numancia 0-2 Real Madrid | La Liga Review + Videos

Saturday, 31 January 09, 04:56 PM

Rau'l and Cannavaro

A legend congratulating another.

Numancia 0-2 Real Madrid

One of the things that I like about Juande is that he is pragmatic. He deals with everything objectively and he knows that there is no room for experiments so the first thing he started to do is to have a "fixed" starting lineup and yesterday's team had started in the three previous encounters something that hadn't happen since 2002. This brought stability, familiarity and harmony to the team.

Juande also brought results to the club. The freedom he gave to Robben has helped the team tremendously. We also have to mention Lass and Gago and their partnership in the midfield; it has had a big impact on our performances.

First Half

Juande started with Casillas, Ramos, Pepe, Cannavaro, Heinze, Lass, Gago, Sneijder, Robben, Rau'l and Higuain.

Numancia were the first to attack when Boris found Barkero's cross only to send it straight into Casillas' hands.

They continued putting pressure on us as their back line advanced to tighten the lines, giving us little room to work with. Gago had a go from the top of the box in the 18th minute but struck the ball poorly and sent it wide of goal.

Del Pino came closer to striking gold but could only watch in dismay as his shot hit Casillas' far post (26’).

In the closing minutes of the first half we regained possession, and we could have gone into the break with the advantage had Dimas not cleared Heinze's shot off the line.

Real Madrid Officially Sign Julien Faubert From West Ham United

Saturday, 31 January 09, 10:22 AM

Julien Faubert

Real Madrid has officially announced that the club signed French winger Julien Faubert from West Ham United on a loan-deal that will see him at the club through the end of the current season.

"Real Madrid CF and West Ham United have agreed to a deal that will see the Julien Faubert (01/08/1983) play for the Spanish club through the end of the current season. The 5'11" French winger began his career playing for Cannes and two seasons later signed for Bordeaux. In 2007 Faubert joined West Ham United of the EPL."

"Faubert scored nine goals in 96 matches with Bordeaux. He made his international debut for France in 2006 after 17 caps with the Under-21 side. Faubert has played in 15 EPL, two FA Cup, and two Carling Cup matches this season."
"He will be presented on Monday at 11:00 CET at the Presidential Balcony of the Santiago Bernabeu."

Since I don't follow the EPL that much, I don't know about him and whether he is a quality winger, but I hope he will help us on the wings although this is a temporary fix. I want the permanent one to be Ribery, nobody else but him.

Thanks to Madridista4 for the tip ;)

Real Madrid 1-0 Deportivo La Coruña | La Liga Review

Sunday, 25 January 09, 01:59 PM

A goal from captain Rau'l gave Real their five consecutive win in the league. They are now second on the table with 12 points behind Barcelona.

Juande started with Casillas, Ramos, Pepe, Cannavaro, Heinze, Lass, Gago, Robben, Sneijder, Rau'l and Higuain.

Real started the match going forward and trying to set up chances, but Deportivo showed character and strength in their midfield.

Real, though, failed to capitalize on their chances and score goals.

However, one of the interesting things that I noticed is that both of Gago and Lass have become compatible which helped us to have more strength in the midfield. Lass would tackle and recover the ball, Gago would pass it forward. This is the partner whom Gago was missing.

I also noticed that Ramos was able to move forward as he used to do before. I think he should be allowed to do so because he is capable of going forward and creating danger. It is fascinating to have a defender with the capabilities of a winger or even a forward.

Real Madrid Vs Deportivo La Coruña | La Liga Preview

Saturday, 24 January 09, 11:55 AM

Real Madrid Vs Deportivo La Coruña - La Liga | 25/01/2009 - 21:00 CET | Santiago Bernabeu

Real Madrid take on Deportivo La Coruña tomorrow night at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium in Madrid.

Juande Ramos has announced his squad list which excludes Marcelo and Saviola (who is unhappy at the club -- and he has the right to be) as well as the injured folks (Ruud, Diarra and De La Red).

However, both of Drenthe and Torres return to the squad.

Goalkeepers: Casillas, Codina
Defenders: Salgado, Pepe, Ramos, Cannavaro, Heinze, Torres, Metzelder
Midfielders: Lass, Gago, Sneijder, Robben, Drenthe, Van der Vaart, Javi García
Forwards: Raúl, Huntelaar, Higuaín

Lineup
Fabio, although included in the list, is still doutbtful for the clash. He may play and he may not. Regardless of that, I think Juande will pretty much stick to the lineup he has used in the last few matches.

Casillas
Ramos   Cannavaro/Metz   Pepe   Heinze

                Gago  ----- Lass

Robben                      Sneijder

        Higuain ---- Rau'l

Ramon Calderon Officially Resigns

Friday, 16 January 09, 03:11 AM

Calderon

UPDATE: Ramon Calderon has officially stepped down -- and vice-president, Vicente Boluda, has been chosen to be the new president until new elections take place.

Earlier today:

It was reported yesterday that Ramon Calderon would resign from his post, and vice-president, Vicente Boluda, would take over until an official election takes place. However,  just this morning, the man himself announced that he'll not quit unless the board members force him to do so.

A press conference will take place today at 10:00 CET and we'll then find out the final decision.

However......

Should Ramon stay or not?

Will his resignation effect the team?

What do you guys think?

Fingers crossed.

Hala Madrid!

Please Make Up Your Mind Jermaine!!

Wednesday, 31 December 08, 12:27 PM

 Pennant

Hey everyone! Happy New Year! :) Kristen here. :)

So, I was on my daily rounds of the transfer websites and the same thing was coming up on all of them, the Jermaine Pennant story. Earlier today, he was quoted as saying that he would like to leave Liverpool and go to Atl. Madrid. Then, later in the day, he was quoted as saying that he is "flattered" that Real Madrid have an interest in him and that he KNOWS 100% that Real Madrid has talked to Liverpool about him. He then later said on guillembalague.com that he would look into going to Real.

AHHH! It is all so confusing. Jermaine, please make up your mind!

But, you have to admit, this is the "beauty" of the transfer market. You have to love it. So, I ask you, do you want Pennant in the...
