If you are a long-time reader of this blog then you know that I'm one of those who demand that Rau'l be benched and even after his performance last night, I still stand by my demand. To begin with, there are much younger and talented players who need playing time in order to develop. It doesn't make sense to bench them and play Rau'l 90 minutes in every game the team plays. Moreover, Rau'l is inconsistent and sometimes limits our strategy in terms of "the way of play" and pace.
However, I won't deny that he helped us snatch a vital win last night. Although I think the way he scored the goals was in no way extraordinary, I pretty much appreciate his great finishing skills. After all, Rau'l is an inside-the-box player and one of the best finishers in the...

This match has proved two things: we have a stupid defense and we still have that fighting spirit.
I'm not going to talk about this game because I'm totally pissed off and so I won't be able to provide any objective analysis.
If you are not mad which is highly unlikely, comment below. Get it off your chest.

So the bad news has come out and Mahamadou Diarra is going to be sidelined for approximately three months leaving Gago totally naked in our midfield. I have been thinking of a replacement though, but I don't think that Calderon is thinking about the same thing.
Gago is a fine player and I admit he has improved in the last four months or so, but yet he is not solid and can't do what Diarra does. So I believe that we need to sign someone right now to cover Diarra's place.
On the market, there isn't any Diarra-style available players. Gattuso, Essien, Toure...etc are all tied up to their respective clubs and that's another justification for Calderon for not looking for a replacement.
If De La Red was ready, he would replace him though they are not similar, but Ruben can help very much. Javi Garcia is a kind of defensive midfielder and comes from the youth system of the club and he should get some playing time.
I wouldn't go and sign someone who is going to shine sometime in the future, we'd need a ready player, but as I said, nobody is available, unless you guys know someone, do you?
Anyway, this time in the league, we host Sevilla who are coming off a humiliating defeat to Barcelona. On paper they look to be healthier and therefore the possible winner, but in these kind of matches, stuff on paper and statistics are not taken seriously - it is all about what happens on the pitch (an example is when we won 3-2 at the Bernabeu - see the video above).
With many key players still injured, Schuster will have to figure things out. Things are not by his side, but injuries are part of football.
Juventus beat us twice and they had only 12 first-team players! The key was that everyone on their team was an effective player - Del Piero scored two goals off five or six chances. This is what I call class.

Usually, I don't trust the Spanish press but here it goes. Marca says that Real Madrid are interested in Sevilla's striker, Luis Fabiano. If this is true, then Schuster or whoever wants that lad must be mad. Yes mad, because how come you sign a striker when you have a dozen. We have Ruud, Raùl, Higuain, Saviola, Baptista and Soldado. You see, it would be a problem and waste of money. If Calderon just like spending millions of euros, why not he give me some of them? I mean I'm a student and I pay a lot of money for college, and I'm a Real Madrid fan so...
