Betis coach Paco Chaparro is supposedly interested in signing the promising 22 year old forward who has featured for the French U-21 national
team, although the player’s €10 million price tag could be a put-off for the financially struggling Andalucian club.
Briand, who played 37 league games and scored seven goals for Rennes last season, is also being chased by PSG but their €8.5 million offer, 15% of which would have gone to the player himself, did not quite appeal to Les Rouges et Noir.
It is believed that Rennes will only listen to Betis if they can start their offer at €10 million and Chaparro is well aware that the club would first have to sell Rafael Sobis to fund such a move.
Another option for Los Verdiblancos would be Saint-Étienne’s Pascal Feindouno. The 27 year old Guinean, who was at one point tracked by Liverpool, managed eight goals from just 33 appearances in Ligue 1 last term, but his price tag is not expected to be that much cheaper than that of Briand’s.
