Encouraging afterwards

Monday, 01 September 08, 03:19 AM

Domineering and dangerous throughout match, Rennais gets the point of the draw in Toulouse 0 - 0. With a little more success, the men of Guy Lacombe could bring back 3 points of victory.

It is in Stadium of Toulouse that the Stage Rennais F.C. therefore took its first point outside season. Rennais, with a little more success, would have even could get the first success. «They wonder if it is not the Stage Rennais F.C. which played at home so much they prevailed» the coach rennais commented at the end of match. It is true that the players of Guy Lacombe accomplished an almost perfect copy outside. Statistics is there to show him: 6 shooting centred for SRFC against 2 for TFC and possession of bullet (54 %) the distinctly upper for the Bretons. It is a pity that success is not in appointment.

The tactical diagramme of the Stage Rennais F.C. is a little amazing: Rennais evolves in 4-2-3-1. Carlos Bocanegra and Rod Fanni occupy corridors. The central axle is composed of Kader Mangane and Petter Hansson. In the middle, Stephane Mbia and Fabien Lemoine are circles recuperators. Offensive circles are Olivier Thomert, Jérôme Leroy and Roman Danzé more taught to play lateral straight. Jimmy Briand is the only man in the top of the attack.

Rennais imposes their rhythm

Already, in the kickoff given by Rennais, the most ambitious team is irrefutably the Stage Rennais F.C. The first occasion is logically Breton. 4th minute, Jérôme Leroy in the middle of ground brings forward Roman Danzé thrown at full speed. The opening is superb, Finistérien manages to gain the upper hand on his adversary but can nothing facing the nice exit of the new concierge of Toulouse Carrasso.

Superiors technically and collectively, the men of Guy Lacombe dominate debates and stress the left corridor of defence of Toulouse. The players of Casanova, blocked well in the middle of rennais prove to be really dangerous only in the 33rd minute of game. Just the time to Nicolas Douchez to prove to his ancient team mates that he had not lost his qualities. Sissoko, full of power, inherits from a good ball in depth and is left side opposite in face with Nicolas Douchez.

Toulouse, not very dangerous in first period

Once this crossed alert, The Stage Rennais F.C. is not any more worried in first period and stays then in the camp of the of Toulouse. The team mates of Jérôme Leroy prove to be menacing twice before pause: 39th minute, served remarkably by Rod Fanni at the entrance of the surface, Jimmy Briand who does not handle his efforts carefully, perforates defence adversary and fixes Carrasso. Jérôme Leroy is in 6 metres and waits for the ball but for the attacker rennais chooses to prick his ball. Carrasso of a firm hand shooting manages to divert.

43rd minute, Roman Danzé centres of right, standing aside for Jimmy Briand who resumes without control. The striking at the level of earth is strong but Cetto is on the trajectory and clears its camp. 43e minute, Romain Danzé centre de la droite, en retrait pour Jimmy Briand qui reprend sans contrôle. La frappe à ras de terre est forte mais Cetto est sur la trajectoire et dégage son camp.

In second period, rennaise domination is always so enduring: 49th minute, Carlos Bocanegra on his left corridor lights a wick. Its ball rebounds on Congré who almost takes Carrasso from opposite direction but the ex-native of Marseilles, of a stopping reflexe, grows back in corner-kick.

Suffocated during more than one hour, TFC takes back a little of air at a time of game. Intractable Nicolas Douchez in air domain proves to be also very comfortable on a distant striking of Mathieu in the 65th minute and to be a little lucky in the 77th minute on a head point-blank of Gignac who ends its running on the transverse bar

An united team and well puts itUne équipe solidaire et bien en place

Collective rennaises actions are always constructed as well. Guy Lacombe who has a feeling that his team can bring back victory decides to make come back Mickaël Pagis in ten last minutes of game. Les actions collectives rennaises sont toujours aussi bien construites. Guy Lacombe qui sent que son équipe peut ramener la victoire décide de faire rentrer Mickaël Pagis dans les dix dernières minutes de jeu.

This change of players and of tactics will not change score. Rennais accomplished a very good match as well collectively as individually and they are rewarded by this first point taken outside. Other positive point, the players of Guy Lacombe follow their series of matches 3 without defeat started last week facing Lille.
Next meeting, the Stage Rennais F.C. will receive The Havre in two weeks as for the 5th day.

European adventure goes on!

Friday, 29 August 08, 02:42 AM

Rennais who bowed 2 - in 1 in the first leg achieved performance to qualify itself of a very nice way. Voluntary and united, " Red and Black» are obvious 2 - 0 in front of their supporters and qualify themselves for the 3rd time in four years for the 1st turn of the Uefa Cup.

The Stage Rennais F.C. has 90 minutes to give skills to his supporters for the 1st turn of the Uefa Cup. In Norway, " Red and Black» conceded the draw 2 - 1. Thanks to the precious purpose of Moussa Sow registered in the first leg, the Bretons still have all chances to qualify themselves.

Logically rewarded Rennais

" Red and Black», who have other choices than to mark, impose the rhythm from the beginning of match by pressing very high the opposing block.

The first occasion is rennaise. 8th minute, Fabien Lemoine recovers the ball in the middle of ground and rushes into the axle to knock to 20 metres of goal. Vigilant, Knudsen, the Norwegian security guard, picks the leather up. Two minutes later action is repeated through Jimmy Briand. Domination is rennaise at this beginning of meeting. 17th, the Bretons get a good blow-franc for an error of hand of Farnerud. Olivier Thomert finds Petter Hansson who delays the head for Carlos Bocanegra.

The powerful head of the American is pushed back on the line. Occasions succeed one another for Stadistes. 28th minute, Jimmy Briand transmits the ball to Olivier Thomert well positioned but the attacker misses the frame. Dangerous in the first leg, the Norwegians do not manage to take out of torment her Breton but keep their inviolate animal box.

37th, Jimmy Briand, very in legs, uses a delivery in game to seed mess in the surface of repairing. Its animation makes Farnerud make error. The Russian referee, mister Igor Egorov, indicates the point of pénalty. Jérôme Leroy corrects himself there for two times, and thanks to a nice pricked bullet, to open score

Stade Rennais F.C. / Stabaek : 1- 0 (Jérôme Leroy 37e)

Transparent Norwegians

From the return of cloakroom, Rennais, through Jimmy Briand, begin one counters express giving them the occasion to make the station wagon. Unfortunately, attacker rennais  does not manage to find his two team mates, Jérôme Leroy and Moussa Sow.

The most faithful supporters attend a nice benefit of their protégés at the venue of "route de Lorient". In compere, Jérôme Leroy becomes famous for his technology while the partners Jimmy Briand and Moussa Sow are perfectly on the forehead of the attack. This last, author of a very good match, gives his place up to Rod Fanni in the 58th minute of game. Game is tempting side rennais.

This action of the 64th minute testifies it. Roman Danzé concludes a superb collective movement of a splendid tense striking which headed under the bar. The Norwegian concierge must be used. The men of Jan Jönsson are timorous and their reaction hesitates to come.

The first hot occasion of the Norwegians intervenes only in the 72eminute of game when Skonsberg sends the leather above the purpose of Nicolas Douchez. The occasions to put on in the shelter do not miss side rennais. 74th minute, Roman Danzé gains the upper hand on his person opposite in 18 metres. Finistérien manages to transmit the ball to Jérôme Leroy who knocks point-blank. The Norwegian security guard accomplishes the reflex stopping but he is only being slow the expiry date. Six minutes later, Olivier Thomert overflows and centres for Jérôme Leroy who shoots the opposing security guard and accomplishes a double.

Stage Rennais F.C. / Stabaek: 2 - 0 (Jérôme Leroy 37th and 80th)

In four minutes of the end, the Bretons make a fear. Nannskog outstrips the defensive rennaise line. For the biggest relief of the Breton supporters, the Scandinavian attacker misses the frame. Up to the final whistle, so much waited by the Breton supporters, the men of Guy Lacombe show a big workmanship. While task promised to be difficult, Stadistes brilliantly qualified itself during second leg for the next turn of the Cut of Uefa. The Stadium of the road of Lorient is ready to vibrate for a new European appointment!

Everton fail in M'Bia bid

Friday, 29 August 08, 02:27 AM

Rennes have rejected a 'good offer' from Everton for midfielder Stephane M'Bia.

The Cameroon international has been linked with a move to Goodison Park for much of the summer and has expressed his desire for a deal to be pushed through.

David Moyes has struggled to bring in new faces during the transfer window and has now had a bid turned down by the French club.

Rennes have made it clear they wish to keep M'Bia and general manager Pierre Dreossi hopes he will agree a new deal.

"We have received a good offer from Everton but we are not selling," Dreossi told AFP.

"We are going to seek a financial accord with Stephane so he can stay another year."

Everton's offer for the 22-year-old was reported to be in the region of ten million euros (£8million).

M'Bia returned from the Olympics with an injury but has been included in the squad to face Norwegian side Stabaek in Uefa Cup qualifying on Thursday night.

Rennes - 2-1 Lille

Monday, 25 August 08, 02:26 AM

Rennes scored twice in the final moments of their sensational 4-4 draw with Marseille on the opening day of the season and repeated the feat against Lille who have slipped to the bottom of the standings with their latest defeat.

Yohan Cabaye had given Lille the lead in the 34th minute only for former Liverpool star Bruno Cheyrou to equalize in the first minute of added time. Substitute Sow sealed the three points with virtually the final kick of the match.

It was just reward for a Rennes side who had been on top during the first half as Mikhail Pagis and Olivier Thomert both went close.

But they were made to pay for missing chances when Cabaye opened the scoring for Lille with a low shot from just outside the area.

Lille should have gone further ahead early in the second half as Stephane Dumont failed to score when he had only Rennes keeper Nicolas Douchez to beat.

It was then the turn of Lille goalkeeper Gregory Malicki to provide the heroics as he made fine saves frrom Asamoah Gyan then Rod Fanni in the final five minutes.

With Lille seemingly home and dry, Rennes won a free kick and Cheyrou's effort took a wicked deflection off the boot of Emerson and into the net.

The hosts powered forward and Douchez launched a goal kick into the Lille penalty area which Petter Hansson headed down to Sow, who scored with an outstetched leg.

Grenoble 1-0 Rennes

Tuesday, 19 August 08, 02:01 AM

End Of Match: Nassim Akrour's first-half strike was enough as Grenoble managed to resist a second-half onslaught to maintain their 100% record.

Akrour fired in a 25-yard effort in the 20th minute after Sofiane Feghouli had missed a golden opportunity to take the lead from the penalty spot.

The second half saw Rennes lay siege to the home goal, only to be denied by desperate defending by Mehmed Bazdarevic's men.

The home side could have taken the lead in the 10th minute when Petter Hansson brought down Daniel Moreira in the area.

Feghouli took the spot-kick, but Nicolas Douchez saved superbly and smothered the follow-up strike from Akrour.

The former Troyes striker made amends 10 minutes later when he fired the home side into the lead with a left-footed drive from outside the box.

The visitors has their best chance of the half in the 32nd minute when Jires Ekoko laid the ball off to Jerome Leroy on the corner of the area, but his shot was well-saved by Gregory Wimbee.

Rennes continued to push in the second period and came close to an equaliser in the 66th minute, but Asamoah missed his chance when through on goal.

Les Rouges et Noirs could have scored again after 74 minutes, but Olivier Thomert was unable to direct his header past Wimbee.

Rennes came closest to finding a leveller 10 minutes from time, but Hansson's looping header sailed just over.
