Argentina vs. Colombia (pre-game post)

Monday, 02 July 07, 11:32 AM · Comments(20)

I normally don't like to blog about the games in advance... on my other blog I posted a PRE COPA AMERICA ANALISIS but a visitor of Ole Ole posted the following comment on somebody else's blog today:

PLLLLLZZZZZZZZ anyone make an Argenting vs Columbia Pregame Blog that we can talk in...im not an official member of the site and actually a newbie here but itd b nice hear the thoughts of fans from
both sides or just viewers, on the match at hand just like the blog against the US team.....btw US did put up a fight.....no matter what anyone says....Im not their fan, tho i am an american citizien
so i cheer for em wen i can, but i am faaaaar more an argentina soccer fan than any other nation.....and the US did give argentina a bit of trouble, i think Arg knew that america was gonna come out
and play with that mentality but the fact of he matter is that Arg needed an hour to really figure out how they can pass their defense ( a huuuuge part had to do with aimar who livened them
up)....but either way dun get me wrong my argentine friends, the cup is ours hopefully.ANyways, sum1 make thatBlog"
Well as she requested I'll do it then.
As I can see by her nickname she's a Messi's fan so of course she's cheering for Argentina today.
And she can realx because Argentina won't take any chances this afternoon and they will once again come with the "killer bee attack" to demolish Colombia's fragile defense.
Basile will use the same team that started the game against the USA leaving Tevez and Aimar on the bench and giving Messi a second chance to shine.
Colombia's defense with Perea and Cordoba has the experience but not the speed to follow the Argie offense.
What is good about this Colombian team is the midfield. Since the 90's with Rincon, Valderrama & cia.  Colombia has come up with good players in that part of the field and this time is not different.
Keep an eye on number 8 David Ferreira.
As for Argentina, there's not much to say but that once again we might see a great performance by the albi-celeste team.
My score prediction is ARGENTINA  3   x  1  COLOMBIA
Now it's up to you to post your comments ....

It's gonna be a tough game. I think Colombia will try to do a bit of what the US did and just clog every hole on their side. I do think Argentina will win tho - and I kinda hope Coco gets revenge for
the whoopin that Colombia gave Argentina in 1994 - the 5-0 win in Argentina. I say Messi scores twice today!!!!!!

With a defence like argentina's i doubt a team like colombia is gonna score unless it's pablo angel dude to his experience with A villa

I personally hold nothing against any of the teams playing this Copa America... I'm blogging as a journalist, just coldly analising each team's possibilities and I believe anything can happen during
a soccer game, or the game wouldn't be as fun as it is. But as a journalist I can only give my opinion based on the paper and on what each team has presented in their previous games

If Colombia lost 5-0 to Paraguay, I doubt that they can beat Argentina. Argentina is so good. At least to me I think they are the best of the whole Copa America.

I like Colombia but their chances are slim. Argentina has been playing well and Colombia is just the opposite. I think it will be a good game though because they usually match up well.

VAMOS LA ALBICELESTE!!! ....Argentina will win this game....they havent reached their optimum performance yet but they are well on their way and i personally dont think Columbia has much a chance
facing the Argentines if u consider how they have been playing....that 5-0 loss to Paraguay was a mere disgrace to be honest....

Perhaps you old fans remember the time when Colombia beat Argentina 5-0, a beautiful match actually played in Buenos Aires. The amazing craft was pure art, mastered at such a level that at the end of
the match the Argentinian fans stood up and applauded, being able to admire something beautiful. It was a Colombian team with such players such as "El Pibe" Valderrama, "El Tren Valencia", "El Tino"
Asprilla, as well as the previously mentioned Rincón. This was a team predicted to bring the South American country their first World Cup Finals appearance. But needless to say "El Once Cafetero"
fell the first round. This I bring up because of the irony of the "5-0" and the coming Argentina match, but to show an example that..in Fútbol...truly anything can happen. The fact is, if Colombia
plays the way they played Paraguay once they play Argentina, it will be a sure defeat.

BTW...can anyone from Columbia or their fans tell me which players from their side to be watching out for during the game?

This will most likely be the starting line-up: Miguel Calero; Camilo Zúñiga, *Iván Ramiro Córdoba*, *Mario Yepes* (Luis Amaranto Perea), Javier Arizala; Fabián Vargas, John Viáfara, Jorge Banguero,
David Ferreira; Hugo Rodallega y *César Valoyes* (*Edixon Perea* ). and.. its Colombia.. not Columbia, lol.
