..:: Game of the day ::.. ...::: ARGENTINA vs. COLOMBIA :::...

An AMAZING, FANTASTIC, INCREDIBLE first half on this game...

It reminded me why I play and love this game since I was 6 years old.

Colombia came to the game knowing that Argentina's offense is lethal so they decided to attack before Argentina could try something ... And it worked: In a very good shot by the very good midfielder David Ferreira, the ball hit Perea and goes into Abondanzieri's goal.

Few minutes later, Messi puts up a performance that could give him an "Oscar" and the (not so good) Brazilian refferee Simon calls the penalty.

Crespo runs for the ball and shoots a canon ball t tie the game. The shot was so hard that resulted in a pulled muscle and Crespo had to leave the field and wqas replaced by Millito.

The game continued very good. Colombia with a very bold team didn't not give up the attack and wanted to prove that even though they were not the favorites for the game they could still show some surprises.

But if you have Riquelme playing well you have no worries. In two plays "el 10" gave all the Argentinian fans a good reason to believe that the team is at the top of their game.

At the minute 33, Zanetti crosses the from the right side and Riquelme heads the ball to the ground making it impossible to Calero to save it.

And at the minute 44 in a perfect free kick, one of his specialties, Riquelme gives Argentina the 3  x  1 lead in the first half...

So far, the BEST game of this Copa America...

End of first half: ARGENTINA 3  x  1  COLOMBIA

The second half starts and Argentina puts in practice the classy, accurate, time-wasting, passing. In an average of 10 passes per play Argentina keeps control of the game.

Meanwhile, Ferreira is still the best player for Colombia but the plays are not getting close enough to Argentina's goal.

Only at the 27th minute Colombia has, in a corner kick, a good opportunity. And they don't waste it. In a cross at the first pole Castellon jumps to the third floor and with a powerful header puts Colombia back into the game.

After the second goal, Colombia balances the game. The good passes and the good ball control is back and there were chances for a 3rd goal. But it didn't happen.

What happened at the very last moment was a shot by Millito that hit a Colombian defender and went over Calero's head who couldn't do anything to save this one.

Certainly the best game of the competition so far...

Congratulations to Argentina who played a serious game with a lot of talent and discipline again.

Congratulations to the brave Colombian team that played very well but couldn't transform all their chances in goal against a almost perfect opponent.

End of the game: ARGENTINA  4  x  2  COLOMBIA

Man of the Match - RIQUELME: Talent & Class

* IN TIME: I'm still extremely happy that there hasn't been any  0 x 0 in this Copa America

Los Cafeteros played some good futbol, as well as Los Gauchos, but the winning team was the more consistent one. I was happy to see Colombia put more of a fight than they did against Paraguay, but I
still feel immensely disappointed not because of the loss but because of the teams loss of heart, clearly seen at the beginning of the second half when the Argentinian team began their "toque toque".
Ultimately the better team won, of course I would've loved to see how they game would've played out without the bad penalty call, but at the end... it is what it is, and its part of the game. Now I
only hope Colombia's mental game, heart, and drive are strengthen for the World Cup.
