Switzerland vs. Czech Republic

Saturday, 07 June 08, 11:02 AM · Comments(1)

90' (+4):

It's over!

Bad Bad Bad result for Switzerland. They were better sruing the entire match but lost their main player to an injury and lost the match to a weak, non-creative Czech Republic.

But that's how football is, right?

90' (+3): The Swiss ask for a hand ball. But the ball hit the defender's arm.

90' (+3):

It's almost over. Czech Republic undeservely get the 3 points. But if that's what they have to show in this competition they can keep their bags packed because they won't go far

90': Another cross and Petr Cech taps in out. Switzerland insisting but it looks like a tennis match. The ball flies in the air and it's intantly bounced back

88': A great chance for Switzerland. Derdiyok (who should've come in for Frei) heads the ball over the bar

86':

Czech Republic didn't do anything after the goal.

Streller in still on the pitch even though he didn't do anything the WHOLE match.

Sub for the Czechs: Klovac IN, Jarolim OUT

84':

Subtitutions for Czech Republic Sionko OUT and Vlcek IN /

Subtitution for Switzerland: Behrami (what???) OUT and Derdyok IN

82': 11 Czech players in their defensive side. Switzerland has less then 10 minutes to change the sotry of this match

79': MY Goodness!!!! In two shots in the same play the Czechs are saved by both Petr Cech and the crossbar... The Swiss are putting more and more pressure! They deserve the goal but it's not happening

75':

And here comes a Substitution for Switzerland. A forward for a right wing. Luchtsteiner is out and Vonlanthen is IN

72': Now the Czechs strategy might become effective. The Swiss team will get desperate and Sverkos will have the chance for the counter attack

71':

GGGGOOOOAAAAALLLLL...

This is why football is great...

Switzerland has played much better but Sverkos received a rebounded ball and shot on the left sidfe of the goal... the ball goes in... Czech Republic, playing really really bad football opens the socre

69':

Oops... Intenet down again...

The teams alternate a few good chances with Switzerland almost scoring and the Czechs wasting a free kick...

59':

The first yellow card of the Euro 2008 is shown to the new swiss captain: Magnin.

On the free kick the Czechs almost score. Maybe if they had kept Koller and added a second striker that ball could've ended inside the net

57': Substitution for Czech Republic: Koller leaves the pitch and Sverkos is brought in. The problem is that they ill continue to play with only one striker

53': Here comes a chance for the Czechs in a free kick... The ball is sent into the box but goalkeeper Benaglio easily saves it

51': If the Czechs have any intention of winning this match they'd better change their strategy and bring up another forward. Milan Barros is sitting on the bench...

49': Switizerland continues playing better. A corner, a long range shot, and a very close free kick from Yakin ... all in the first 4 minutes of this second half

46': Initially the Swiss coach thought of bringing the 19 year old prodigy Derdiyok, but he decided to go with the experience of Yakin. If I were the coach I would bring the kid in and also Yakin to replace Steller who didn't do ANYTHING.

45':

With Frei out the  Swiss coach brings in the number 10 Hakan Yakin

Half Time:

End of first half. Switzerland outplayed Czech Republic in the first 45'. But now that they had to replace Alexander Frei things might not look gook for the Swiss.

The captain left the pitch crying with an ice bag on his left knee. He was walking but the injury will need a deeper evaluation

43':

Sorry folks... my internet was down for a few minutes. But Frei left the pitch with a knee injury. It could be serious and it seems that the Swiss captain might not return for the second half.

Frei leaves the field crying

36': Another good play for Switzerland!!! Alexander Frei takes a great long range shot, Petr Cech should have saved it but he gives the rebound but the Swiss striker that got to the ball was offside

32': Switzerland tries to explore the speed and the wings sometimes risking long range shots, Czech Republic playing with only one forward tries long balls in the air exploring Jan Koller's height and strength.

29': The first crossing that finally finds Czech striker Jan Koller in the box. But the flag went up. He was off-side

25': Switzerland maintains more ball possession and waits for the right moment to pass and move forward.

25': Czech Republic's target man Jan Koller is playing too isolated up front and the Czechs are having a hard time finishing their offensive plays

23': 1- Petr Cech, 6- Jankulovski, 21- Ujfalusi, 22- Rozehnal, 2- Grygera; 14- Jarolim, 7- Sionko, 4- Galasek, 20- Plasil, 3- Polak; 9- Koller

18': Great ball for Switzerland. A long pass to Frei behind the defensive line and Petr Cech has to work again.

18': Barnetta takes a free kick from the left. The defense clears it and the Swiss recovers with Inler. He takes a shot from the right top of the box and the ball end in Petr Cech's hands.

16': Behrami again for Switzerland. He carries the ball and takes a long range shot from the right side. Petr Cech saves it easily

11': Czch Republic on the attack. Jarolim centres and the balls almost surprises goalkeeper Benaglio. He taps it away and the defense clears it out

11': Great play by Behrami on the left. He crosses and the Czechs clear the ball.

9': Jankulowski tries a deep pass but the linesman raises the flag for an off-side

7': The match starts with both teams attempting crosses and long balls in the box.

6': Plasis fouls Behrami. The free kick is taken into the box. The defense clears

3': Alexander Frei hits the first shot for Switzerland. The ball goes wide.

0': Both Teams lined up .... and .... The referee blows the whistle... The Euro 2008 starts

Before Kick Off:

Czech Republic didn't do anything after the goal.

Streller in still on the pitch even though he didn't do anything the WHOLE match.

Sub for the Czechs: Klovac IN, Jarolim OUT
