The BEST BRITISH FOOTBALLER EVER !!!! Vote and comment and you might win a Retro Football Shirt Replica!!!

Thursday, 18 September 08, 04:10 PM · Comments(17)

Hello my friends, Last year, in October, I started a quite interesting series of blogs to choose the Best Football Player in your opinion. But after two weeks of success I was warned by a former employee of OleOle not to do it anymore because of the external links... Well, a lot has changed in the company. Including the fact that I now work for OleOle.

The first two polls were to select THE BEST ARGENTINE PLAYER EVER and THE BEST FRENCH PLAYER EVER. The results can be seen bellow:

STATS

STATS

So here are the rules for these POLLS: (extracted from the October 3, 2007 post)

"I separated the best players (the ones that people most argue about) into countries or categories. Some countries like Brazil, Argentina, Italy, Germany, England ... will be a category on their own and some countries with less entries will form a group category. You will have 2 week to submit your votes for each category and after that the 2 top voted players will move to a next round. In the end of the whole process we will be able to find out who are the top 10 best players of all times. And if you also decide to leave a comment on the my blog posts revealing your opinion about the players in that category your name will be on a raffle for a chance to win a Retro Football Strip Replica... It will be a prize from me for your participation."

TODAY THE CATEGORY IS THE GREAT BRITAIN:

I normally add only 5 footballers per category but for the British it became an impossible task so the list brings 10 options and you can also add your own by voting on OTHER.

So...

Oh... Very nice idea. I just wished I could've voted in the French poll. I'd have voted for Zizou. But anyway. My vote here was for George Best.

Nice one SPURSBOY. I'm impressed that Geoff Hurst got only one vote so far. I mean, I'm Brazilian and the history of British football might not be my specialty but as far as I know the guy was a goal-scoring machine right? Anyway folks, keep voting and sending your comments.

Adams was an incredible defender indeed. He has more club titles than Bobby Moore but does he really have what it takes to be considered the best British footballer ever? Or it's just the voice of an Arsenal fan speaking there?

Gonna have to go for the great Johnny Haynes. A one club man, he played 594 games for Fulham and earnt 56 caps for England including 22 as captain, many of which while Fulham were in the old second division! Pele described him as the 'best passer of the ball I've ever seen'.

The best British player is not even in the poll, RYAN GIGGS. You got Becks but no Giggs poll is void.

The more I look at the list the poorer it gets, you have missed a whole lot of Scots and.

1 - John Charles (Juventus)

Charles joined Juventus from Leeds United in 1957 for a British record £65,000. In his five years at Juventus he scored 93 goals in 155 games. He won the Italian league title three times and the Italian Cup twice. He later had a spell at AS Roma. In 1997 on Juventus’ centenary, Charles was voted the best ever foreign player to play for the club, ahead of the likes of Platini and Boniek. He was capable of playing centre-forward or centre-back and is regarded as one of the greatest all round footballers ever. He was nicknamed ‘Il Gigante Buono’ – The Gentle Giant.

What about Kenny Dalglish - he surely has to be in the top 5, if not even top 3. He won practically everything there was to win with Liverpool - an amazing footballer.

George Best without a shadow of a doubt. The great Pele even said himself that Best was better than him. The guy was just a genuis, who else could hit the net six times in one game witha killer hangover? Its just a shame his off-field life made for an early retirement at 27 and the world probably never seen him right at the peak of his game. C'mon folks... i think you all know that Best WAS the Best... hands down, and i bleedin hate Man U.. but gotta be impartial in polls like this. He stands out miles ahead in this poll, as i believe he was not just the best British player but possibly the Worlds best ever player.

Dont agree?? Just check out some of the complitions people have put on youtube, he was simply amazin!
