I'm not an expert really but for the little i've seen there's no doubt Maradona is the best Argie player EVER!!! and I'd say Batistuta should come second for the tittles and number of goals scored!

Maradona was absolutely amazing, but Lionel Messi is already proving to be BETTER than Maradona. Messi for FIFA World Player of the Year.

Well, Noby, the idea is to select the best and most important players for every country that is big in terms of football and select the 2 best ones for each one of these categories. I believe that
the 6 ones that i chose for Argentina represent well the country and in that case Maradona could not be left out.

Manogil, I agree Maradona is in the top 3 for Argentina but my point was for "Mollyk" to answer when when I hear people say he is the best player "ever" Do they just not know the game that well? Do
they not know Maradona shouldn't have one of his WC titles because of his admited "hand of God". Do they not know that if you look at his stats there are many more players who accomplished the same
or more?

well, maradona has a strong case for best ever - not only argentina, but the world. people always remember the hand of god, but his other goal in the same match was one of the greatest goals ever. he
dominated world cup 86 and won it almost single-handedly. only him & garrincha (62) can claim that they won the world cup single-handedly. in fact, i rate maradona higher than pele because of 86.
pele played with garrincha, carlos alberto, rivelino, et al

I feel that Maradona is probably #1 just based on his lifetime career, but Messi will surpass him as long as he stays healthy. Those guys get fouled a lot! As far as Maradona winning the WC single
handedly, it's a team sport...he did have some help. Pele had a way of lifting the play of those around him. I don't think Maradona did that.

ummm ... no, i'm not. football isn't about stats, if it was - ronaldo would be considered a better player than ... lets say beckenbauer. now, we all know that would be sacrilegious. i saw most of the
matches in 86 and he (by himself) dominated at least 5 matches. also, he played at napoli. where was napoli before him? after him? that was another club where he had little support. don't get me
wrong, i'm not a maradona fan at all, all i'm saying is that you are dead wrong if you don't consider maradona in the three best players ever. if you ask me who the greatest player there ever was -

Diego Armando Maradona is one of the best players to ever play this sport, whether you're a fan of his or not. However, I strongly feel that Lionel Messi has the potential to be better than Maradona.
Obviously, he isn't now, but one day, he will be. Lionel is a more complete player than Diego was. Diego would always wait for one of his teammates at the back to make a tackle and pass him the ball.
But Messi..... he's making the tackle himself and is running to gol trying to score. Currently there are only 3 players who can take the mantle of "best player in the world". That's Kaká, Cristiano
Ronaldo, and Lionel Messi. My point is, people would pick Kaká because he is brilliant and he gives it his all. Not to mention, that he has the trophies, to back himself up. People would choose
Cristiano Ronaldo because he's quick, he does incredible tricks, and he can score gols.........

But, I say the best player right now, is Lionel Messi. And he will one day, NOT NOW, but one day, he'll be the best Argentine there ever was. Because neither Kaká, Cristiano Ronaldo, nor Diego
Maradona ever go/went for a tackle, run back up field, beat defenders, dish off the ball or score the gols themself, as Leo does. They always wait for the ball to be passed, where as Messi...he goes
for the ball himself. It's the hunger, the will to become the greatest, that makes Lionel Messi the best, in my opinion. A lot of people don't look at that way. The Manchester United fans think their
boy is the best. Why? Because he does neat tricks? Because he scored more gols than Messi? They only see Messi running at defenders and passing the ball. But, those people NEVER see him do what no
other player does and that is... go for the ball and not wait for it to be passed. I rest my case....
