Vote on the BEST GERMAN FOOTBALLER EVER!!! For a chance to win a Retro Football Shirt!!!

Tuesday, 14 October 08, 01:51 PM · Comments(32)

Hello Everyone,

Not a lot of participation from the Brits in selecting their best football player of all times (only 10 votes while 40 people voted on the Argentinian and 42 voted on the French)

George Best was elected the best Brittish footballer and will move to the final tournament.

Now it's time to choose the best German Football Player Of All Times. Here are the nominees:

Germany Best Footballers

Michael Ballack

Germany Best Footballers

Franz Beckenbauer

Germany Finest Footballers

Oliver Kahn

Germany Best Footballers

Jurgen Klinsmann

Germany Finest Footballers

Sepp Maier

Germany Best Footballers

Lothar Matthaus

Germany Best Footballers

Gerd Müller

You can vote on the POLL WIDGET on top left side of this post. And don't forget to leave your comments if you want to enter the draw for a REPLICA RETRO FOOTBALL STRIP!

RULES:

"I separated the best players (the ones that people most argue about) into countries or categories. Some countries like Brazil, Argentina, Italy, Germany, England ... will be a category on their own and some countries with less entries will form a group category. You will have 2 week to submit your votes for each category and after that the 2 top voted players will move to a next round. In the end of the whole process we will be able to find out who are the top 10 best players of all times. And if you also decide to leave a comment on the my blog posts revealing your opinion about the players in that category your name will be on a raffle for a chance to win a Retro Football Strip Replica... It will be a prize from me for your participation."

Well, I'm going to vote for Gerd Muller then. I know and i recognize that Beckenbauer is at a different level (along with Pelé, Cruyff, DiStefano, Maradona and Zidane) but Muller was one of the most efficient strikers I've ever seen in my life.

Franz Beckenbaur is the easy choice, no one will argue with you will they, it's a safe bet.

My choice only ever played for 2 clubs. 7 years with Karlsruhe and 14 years with Bayern Munich ! You can't buy loyalty of this standard !

He won 8 German League titles, 6 German Cups, the UEFA Cup, the Champions League and an Intercontinental Cup. He was also named European Keeper of the year for 4 consecutive years and 3 times he won World Keeper of the year and he was twice German Footballer of the year. He appeared in the 2002 World Cup finals where he won the FIFA Golden Ball as the best all round player ! He spent 12 years as the German National keeper !! He was the last line of defence ! If Beckanbaur made an error he had 9 of his team mates to back him up and help him correct the error, if my guy made an error he could cost his team everything ! He lived with this pressure for 19 years in an immaculate professional career where he won everything, yes EVERYTHING !!!

I give to you - OLIVER KHAN !!

der Kaiser easily takes the cake. Not only did Beckenbauer win the World Cup as coach and manager but he also got the 2006 World Cup to come to Germany.

Great debate going on here! I thought that the Kaiser would win easily but I see Oli Kahn's fans showing their support for the goalkeeper... Tell your friends to vote too

Lothar Matthaus is my vote.

Winner of World Cup and Euro Cup. He has played 150 games for his National team, despite some serious injuries.
Several League and Cup titles in Germany and Italy. For two times World footballer of the year. Only the Champions League he hasn´t won. :-(

I've always had a soft spot for the goalkeepers anyway. As an outfield player you have 9 others there to back you up but the goalkeeper he is on his own, he has no others to save if he misses. Plus, all the outfield players, especially midfield and strikers get the playboy image and all the glory etc etc. Take Lev Yashin for example, go and Google his name and check out his statistics !! You wont believe how good he was. He, for me, is one of the greatest ever players. Hence my allegiance to Oliver Khan.

Hahaha... you're really engaged in a campaign Pro-Kahn, right Carly? hahaha...

I agree that goalkeepers never get the glory and the spotlight they deserve... and Yashin was simply magestic!

I am yes, lol, you noticed then ? Goalkeeper is always overlooked and when they make a good achievement no one remembers anyway !! Great Romanian keeper and Steaua Bucuresti player saved 4 consecutive penalties in one match, the only keeper to do this, and not in an easy game either ! It was against Barcelona in the Champions League final and Steaua are Champions of Europe Wooooo Hooooo. They made the final the following year too ;-)

.....and I might add.....Steaua Bucuresti won the Champions League fielding 11 Romanians with 3 Romanian reserves !! AND...not one of them was paid for it ! We'll never see the like of them again !!!

I wanted to vote to Breitner because of magnificent hairdo however I can't resist the charm of Franzie the Kaiser. (Besides I've heard that Kaiser is the name of a beer in Brazil, is that correct ManoGil?)
