Senza dubbi!!!!
Alessandro Del Piero

Walter.

Again we see the striker getting all the votes which is understandable. They score all the goals, they 'win' all the games, they have the playboy lifestyle and are more flamboyant and appear in the newspapers more !!

Loyalty and hard work seem to get overlooked in most of these polls.

So with that in mind, I vote for Paulo Maldini.

Is he loyal to his team ? He's been with AC Milan for 30 years now as a man and a boy, you wont see better loyalty from any footballer these days !! Wave some money under their noses and off they go, their loyalty changes like the wind.

Does he work hard ? Try and name another player who can command a place in a team in the Serie A and Champions League at his age. There wont be too many, and if there are others they will more than likely be goalkeepers.

He plays in a difficult position too - he gets crunched time after time in tackles and after 30 years he's still in there fighting for his place....................and winning !!!

He has made the most appearances for Italy by anyone too......126 or 127, I forget but it's close to this figure !!

Paulo Maldini is a cut above the rest in this poll !!

Reply to ks_1990:

Francesco Totti?

Totti is a great player and that's why there's the "Other" option. But I had to use players from all times and it came down to Del Piero or Totti and I believe Del Piero has been making a bigger impact.

Totti despite not being a striker has scored way more goals than del piero and in way less time than del piero in serie A, he should at least be there if not winning it

but without doubts the best italian players of all times are : 1) Giuseppe MEAZZA (2 times world champion), 2) Roberto BAGGIO , 3) Omar SIVORI (Italo-argentino, he played for both teams, huge talent) 4) Silvio PIOLA (317 goals in italian championships oncluding pre serie A, world champion 1938) , 5) Julio LIBONATTI (italy-Argentina, 15 goals in 17 matches with Italy, named "the matador"
