In football the strikers and midfielders of the game are most remembered.....And it makes us forget about the great Goal Keepers of the game....The players with the most pressure on the pitch are the players who get the least rememberance....So who is the greatest keeper of all time?.....Who is the great keeper at the moment?....Who really stops the ball from going in the back of the net?.....Lav Yashin?....Gigi Buffon?....Anyone....Tell me all....
Yeh Fads i have to agree Casillas was a class act during the Euros and is now a serious competitor for the Balon Dor...Peter Schmeichel...Wat a keeper...all i have to say!
Rivaldinho....I agree Cech hasn't been himself since that knock on the head...he's been dropping alot of crosses...Given is a great keeper who defiently doesn't get enough praise!
Given is good but his Achilles heal is his size, having said that Casillas ain't that big either! Agree about Cech although understand it is only human, after such a horrific injury... It's bound to play on his mind?
the best keeper I ever seen was peter scmichael he was bigger than the goal. the next 6 best keepers were the ones that kept out bristol rovers, but then that wasnt hard ever seen them play ha ha
Like i said b4 Peter Schmeichel, "The Great Dane" was/is No1
Nope...it's Lev Yashin!...Lol...Has anyone heard of him?!?
Possibly the best keeper ever to have lived...apparantly!
Casillas is the best @ the moment not only has he proved it, he has also put himself in a great position to win the world player of the year. So Casillas @ the moment and he has been the best in my book for sometime now
Haha...He don't have a chance of winning world player of the year...We all know who will win it...CR7...But Casillas is great and maybe could ge the Balon 'dor
Yeh I've heard of Yashin he's a Russian keeper!!!

Don't be too sure. Ronaldo really messed up his chances by agreeing with Blatters slavery comments.
It doesn't effect his points ad ranking mate...thats what it is based on...
But Ronaldo played shit in da Euros that will surely affect his ranking!!!
Trust me Ronaldo will win the World player of the year award... any player who scores 42 goals from midfield should definitely win it, the facts speak for themselves! Back to reality isn't this post about goalkeepers???
Thanx Bishop, yeah i don't know much about him myself, but i've heard he was a class keeper..Thank you!
wat about tomas ravelli in the classic 11 team in da fifa games anyone heard of him!!!
Never heard of him...I think i saw him on the Fifa...
i dont pay attention to the europe league so i wouldnt know. its gonna take some time brotha
greatest of all time? yashin! haha my grandded met him at world cup '66.
at the moment the best are buffon-casillas-reina-chech
yep Yashin, defiently...ur grandad met him...wow, nice one!...
Thomas Ravelli was the keeper for Sweden in the 90's. Very good but to me the one unforgettable ones were Rinat Dasayev (Soviet Union), Michel Preud'homme (Belgium), Dino Zoff (Italy), Peter Schmeichel (Denmark) ... Those are all from the 80's and I grew up watching them play.
Lev Yashin is a legend and will be a reference forever.
Iker Casillas in the name of the year. Petr Cech comes right after him.
Thanx ManoGil haven't heard of manny of them apart from Schmeichel and Zoff...and they were brilliant...i'm sure those other to were aswell...i think we have agreed Yashin is the greatest of all time...Casillas is the best atm and Schmeichel is a true legend!
Erik the Viking aka Erik Thorstvedt, was by no means the best keeper in the world, but certainly one of the best keepers i have seen at Spurs.
ManoGil Cech shouldn't be after Casillas, Buffon should!!! Buffon in my opinion is better overall than Casillas but not this year!!! Casillas outdid him in da euros that's why this year:
1. Casillas
2. Buffon
3. Cech
john shaw the city keeper with the bald head ,i was remember vaughn jones scoring for us against him and said he didnt know where the goal was but seen the floodlights shigning off shaws head and hit the ball towards the light from the half way line and lobbed the useless sod great.
Hahaha...so u have done the worst keeper in history lol...nice one...ROVERS 4 LIFE!!! Haha
You never responded to the Spurs Legend Erik the Viking???
Oh sorry mate...Yeh he was great for spurs...helped win us the cup in 1991...didn't make such a great impression first, but he made it up!
Gomes at PSV was awesome. He was responsible for our 4 championchips at his own. It's such a pitty he left PSV on this way now.. I hope he will show you in England how great he is, he is the best goalie in premier league for sure, if he reaches his PSV level at spurs
Yeah Gomes really is a great keeper and all PSV fans have told me that he won u the championships!...I hope he does good with us...and keeps a many clean sheets!
Those who I have the pleasure of watching over the years: Jennings, Clemence, Shilton, Dasayev, Pfaff, Pumpido, Lukic, van Breukelen, Schmichael, Seaman, Kahn, van der Sar, Lehmann, Casillas, Buffon, Cech... hope to live long enough to add to the list...
Thanks mad-redo1...a good choice of keepers there...and i'm sure u can add a plenty of keepers to that link
I'm only 19, so I missed out on Jennings/Clemence/Shilton &c.
From the 'keepers I've seen, it has to be Peter Schmeichel, apart from him there haven't been many top-class goalies in the Premiership era, maybe Friedel and van der Sar.
Outside of the prem, I would have to say Buffon, Casillas, and, for winning Euro 2004 almost single-handedly (or should that be double-handedly?!), Nikopolidis.
I just hope that Schmeichel's son can also become a world-class stopper to 'keep' it in the family
Me again - one more nomination...
This goalkeeper has a 100% clean sheet record for his country (and in all competitions, for that matter).
He plays for Middlesborough...
Still confused?
It's Tuncay, of course! Brilliant 5 minutes in goal for Turkey, truly world class performance
Yeah i think Scmeichel is a favourite with most people and he is one of the true great and his son kasper looked promising at the beginning of the season with city, but they chose Joe Hart oer him...
Haha nice one mate lol...i think he should be keeper for middlesbrough
...is that who u support?...why don't you become a member here on OleOle?
Hey Roundthecorner Joe hart is better than Kasper Scmeichel in my opinion!!! If i was manager of man city I'd chose hart ahead of Kasper!!!
Yeah so would i B4L, but Kasper did keep 3 clean sheets in a row at beggining of season!
Casillas is the best.If you watched Italia-Espana,then you now
The worst keeper in history is Victor Valdes from FC Shitheads Barcelona.
I'm a Manchester United fan, but I seriously think Petr Cech (before his injury) was the best GK..now, currently, it's Casillas, though Pepe Reina and Edwin Van Der Sar are tied for me in the penlaty saving department..!
Thanks yllig and ahmedshah...yh casills is the greatest atm imo...and i agree with a ahmed that cech was one of the best, pre-injury!

Iker Casillas proved what a class player he is, in the Euro's! Obviously Buffon has been one of the best keepers of the modern era, but the best of all time for me is Peter Schmeichel, "The Great Dane" was certainly the best i have seen in the PL. The best GK on current form in England is David James imo, and i never thought i'd say that! It just goes to show
how quickly things can change in Football...
Casillas
Buffon
Given
Canizares
Since his head injury, Cech has never been the same. He no longer has that bravery that was right on the border of stupidity. He looks nervous these days.
