I revealed in an earlier blogpost that I think my England career may be over before it’s even begun, but lo! There may still be hope for us ball-clogging local-league dreamers who week-upon-week turn up on icy Sunday mornings to play in front of 3 angry wives and a cow...
That is if we have any Filipino in us.
For you see, the able legends at World Cup Blog have reliably informed me that the “The Philippine Football Federation is literally ‘scouring the globe’ to find people to play for the national football team” which is, as you might expect, are best currently summed up as an ‘international crock of shit’.
Currently sporting the difficult statistical fact that they have lost 147 of their 184 international matches, we nonetheless hear tell that they are” steadily climbing the ...

All too often, referees get a real bad press.
After all, with 20,000 incredibly biased people screaming at you week-in, week-out – and football being the high octane, swift-paced sport it is, you’re bound to get some things wrong.... But sometimes, and usually when I’ve got a few quid on it, match officials have been known fuck up to an unbelievable degree... So unbelievable in fact, that one cannot quite believe the match reports until you’ve seen it for yourself.

Now before I launch into a massive rant, I’m fully aware that these reports can be hugely overstated. As a former steward of Swansea City I was appalled to read one report of racist chanting, where the complainant had misheard “You Jack Bastard” [a popular chant down the Vetch as it was then] for “You Black Bastard”. However, if this is true – and there’s little evidence to suggest it isn’t, I’d implore w...

Yeah, yeah! It’s a piece of piss to drop a fan in the crowd with a well-placed kick (actually, it wasn’t *too* accurate – the racist shitehouse deserved 12 studs direct to the oh-my-god-it’s-so-ugly-it-surely-can’t-be-human face), but it takes balls of steel to take on a copper. On the pitch.
One man with such stainless nuts is one Zvonimir Boban, a Yugoslav (as was) with such hardened testes as to vent his frustration at some part of an on-field brawl – which part isn’t quite clear, and quite frankly who cares – on an innocent (as I’m was sworn by all his colleagues in court) member of the constabulary). What isn’t shown in this video is the copper actually making contact with his truncheon (insert own gay porn joke), but old Zvonni clearly got the hump and dropped the guy with a neatly executed ...
