Arsenal Beat Spurs + Liverpool Beat Themselves

Well, Saturday had some absolutely brilliant games didn't it? Lots of goals, and a lot of red cards, seven I think.

Cesc Fabregas does push-ups at 3-0.

Early kick-off was the North London derby at the Emirates Stadium where Arsenal got a great 3-0 win over Tottenham. There would have been two yellow cards shown to David Bentley within 8 minutes but it didn't really matter in the end, the Gunners ran over Tottenham who had no reply. I must say, I was kind of nervous watching the game, remembering what happened last season, but that was not to be this time around. RvP scoring two while El Capitaine Cesc Fabregas scored a fantastic solo goal immediately after Spurs' first goal restart.

Elsewhere, Chelsea proved too hot for Bolton to handle, winning 4-0 away from home.

Surprise, surprise, Liverpool continued their slump in form against an in-form Fulham side. The Reds managed to get two players sent off at Craven Cottage with Fulham winning 3-1. Fernando Torres may have been on the losing team, but he scored a fine goal.

Portsmouth's result was quite surprising, beating Wigan Athletic 4-0 at home. Could this be the start of a change of fortunes?

It's taken a whole lot of time to get back to writing on this blog. I've been suffering from a major amount of writer's block, lethargy, and dengue. Well, mostly dengue. Know what dengue does? Click here.

So between now and 3 months ago, a lot has happened, and hopefully I can keep sharing little tidbits with you guys about my fantastic journey to the Emirates stadium! Not now, later. Because now I'll get back to what is most important.

So what's good coming up on the weekend? Let me tell you!

Arsenal vs Spurs - The North London derby. Arsenal better not give up their lead like the last time Spurs came to the Emirates.
Bolton vs Chelsea - Chelsea really stuffed Bolton Wanderers in the Carling cup a few days ago, can they do it again?
Burnley vs Hull City - Did Phil Brown lose his job? If he didn't, can Burnley put seven past Hull City so that he does?
Everton vs Aston Villa - Both teams looked strong last season, Everton haven't had as good a start as Villa have this time around.
Fulham vs Liverpool - Craven Cottage will welcome a Liverpool side who've managed one win out of their last five games.
Portsmouth vs Wigan Athletic - Portsmouth are bottom of the table and need to get a result against Wigan who've been fantastic with Hugo Rodallega.
Stoke City vs Wolves - Long throws and loud support should see off Wolves.
Sunderland vs West Ham - West Ham, although they haven't been playing badly, don't look like they'll win against Sunderland at home.
Man United vs Blackburn - United will be looking to make a punching bag out of Blackburn following their 2-0 humbling at Anfield.
Birmingham vs Man City - Only a win will do for City to prove they're title contenders.

Those are all the fixtures for the weekend in the Premier League. A new feature I'm going to have on this blog is a Video Of The Day, where I'll put up something cool that I saw while surfing Youtube.

Times Of India Are Chelsea Bum-Lickers!

WHAT THE FUCK?! WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS?!

Do you know what is in the bottom left corner of that picture? A PARAGRAPH ABOUT US AGAINST EVERTON!

Chelsea, who beat stupid-ass Hull City 2-1 at home, gets half the back page of the Times Of India newspaper! Bull-fucking-shit!

Arsenal, who everyone seems to have written off before the season started, HAMMERED Everton away from home, 1-6! And it get's A PARAGRAPH? Ours was the best match of the day! Ok, I understand it was a later kickoff than Chelsea's, and started broadcasting at 10pm India time. I don't know when the press decides to stop and start distributing, but come on!

They couldn't find ONE PICTURE?! They could have put up ANYTHING! A tackle, a shot, or a header from Vermaelen over Fellaini!

It would have been fine if they didn't mention Arsenal's match altogether, and put in Monday's paper (THEY HAD BETTER! THOSE GREASY BASTARDS!). But no, we get:

After a horribly long absence of Premiership football and a horribly long episode of writer's block, the Dust In Chembur is back online and (hopefully) better than before! It's the weekend and that means we're kicking off another fantastic season of world class football. Not like the trash I play over here, but smooth, silky, footballing goodness!

Arsenal will be away at Everton today. Best of luck to the Gunners! I've realized I don't hold a candle to other Arsenal bloggers over here, so this time around, I'm going to be concentrating more on what's happening closer to home. No sir, that doesn't mean I won't be expressing my views about the Arsenal, it's just that I myself would prefer to read the opinions of the likes of Arseblogger, KingCesc, LadyArse, JamRockRover and Arsenal Truth!

Dusty Boot Review: Vector X Fighter

Since there's zero football going on (or at least interesting football) and transfer rumours are eating everyone's head, The Dust In Chembur has taken upon itself the duty of reviewing football shoes that you don't get to read on other websites. So, let's go.

Vector X - Fighter

Ooh, yes, the name strikes fear that shakes the spines of opponents, and in some cases, tickles a funny bone or two.

Vector X's Fighter shoes are a good choice for anyone looking for a solution when they find that they've been selected for their school football team or when the perennial bench-warmer gets injured (possibly by a numb derriere) and needs to be replaced.

As with most Vector X shoes, the durability is not so good. These shoes are made with the common Indian man's budget in mind. However, they somehow forgot that the common Indian man doesn't play on the Nou Camp pitch.

"Okay, we've made a great boot here! It's easy to afford, so everyone will buy it!"

"But will it last on a ground like Gandhi Maidan?"

"Fuck that!"

A general complaint about these shoes is that front of the shoe tends to rip off from the sole quite easily. If you look closely at the picture, it almost looks like the sole is glued to the shoe. Newsflash: It is.

Comfort wise, it really depends on your preference. Since it's cheap, the material inside the shoe isn't the best quality. A few months down the line and the insides will be torn. However, it wasn't designed to last you a year so it's good for the money you get.

Now for the football point of it. It'll take you quite a while to get used to shooting with these boots. If you're a person who always tries for a laces shot, there's not enough surface area to really get your foot behind the ball. If you're a fan of the toe poke, no problems there.

Passing is fine if you're always looking to side-foot the ball. A delicate chip over the backline won't work here.

"SIDE FOOT PASSING HAS NEVER BEEN EASIER!"

All in all, if you're looking for football shoes and you're not a serious footballer, then you'd best pick these up. They come for around Rs 400 or Rs 500. Along with black, you can get these shoes in red and blue.

Calling All Gooners: Please Help Me Out

I'm going to be visiting London for about week in late August and I've been trying to find a way to book online for a stadium tour of the Emirates through the Arsenal.com website. I don't seem to be having any luck as dates are listed till July 29th. Should I check next month or is there some other reason?

Can anybody help me out?

Thomas Vermaelen: Our Defensive Solution?

Thomas Vermaelen is our first signing during the summer transfer break. He's a Belgium international as well as Ajax captain. He's also 23 years of age. Which makes gives him room for quite a lot of development. He has a good amount of experience under his belt (because he's been in most Pro Evolution Soccer games I've played) which is good for us. 23 is a good age. It's not the peak of his career, but if he's really good right now (which we shall see soon enough), it only means he will get much, much better.

But is that it? Is Arsenal only going to sign one defender? I hope not. I know we have

Sagna
Eboue
Clichy
Gibbs
Silvestre
Gallas
Toure
Senderos

Kolo Toure seems more and more likely to go, as does Gallas. Silvestre isn't anywhere at the level that a club as prestigious as Arsenal needs. Clichy and Sagna are doing fine, they have a lot of years ahead of them, both have denied making contact with other clubs. Kieran Gibbs, who is my age and is 70 times better than me, is just getting started. And Emmanuel Eboue. Well. Blah. Senderos doesn't seem to be too happy to be coming back to the Emirates so he might go too.

I really think we need to add one more defender. Considering the rate of injuries that happens to us in a season, I think it will be money well spent. Alex Song could be shifted back into defense but I think it would be better if he competed for the defensive-midfielder role.

I just don't know. I really think we need one more defender. Maybe not a centre-back, but somebody who can play just about anywhere in defense, like a utility player. I don't know too many people like that..

The monsoons have finally arrived and will soon give me reasons not to take the trains to my college. Whooppee for the Indian subcontinent. Oh, and football is going to suck at Gandhi Maidan.
