Bentley signs... Arshavin next?

Wednesday, 30 July 08, 06:24 PM · Comments(30)

David Bentley has this evening signed for Spurs, from Blackburn. For a fee believed to be £15m rising to £17m. At the same time of writing, Tottenham have also agreed personal terms, with the Russian superstar... Andrei Arshavin; dubbed the white Maradona... Although it is believed that the deal has hit a snag, as a fee cannot be agreed between Tottenham, and the players current club Zenit St Petersburg. What are your thoughts my fellow Tottenham fans... Are you happy with the signing of Bentley? And if Arshavin comes... Will he be able to fill the boots, of a certain Irishmen who has since departed? Come... Enlighten me...

=D Bentley is a great signing but I don't think Spurs need a playa like Arshavin now!! They need a striker buy Diego Milito and Pavlyuchenko first before signing a playa like Arshavin!!! He'd be a great addition 2 da super Spurs squad!!!

Bimitarderbatov i dunno what your on about? The writing don't seem impossible to read to me?

B4L cheers as ever for your input matey, but i would say it is always good to get quality players like Arshavin. Theres no right or wrong time... Just anytime lol As for another striker, we are meant to be in talks? With Asrshavin's international strike partner Pavlyuchenko as of today, so we may see not one but two Russians at White Hart Lane next season!?! 8O

Cheers guys... Exciting times down at the Lane, this coming season that's for sure! Which is quite funny, because people were trying to knock the club for losing players like Keane and possibly Berba? But it could actually be a blessing in disguise? Only time will tell... But i for one think we will be far stronger next season...

According to the Beeb website, we're in for Pavlyuchenko. Getting Pavlyuchenko and Arshavin would be good. A ready made strike partnership.

Well they will certainly know each others game, inside out Bishop... Which should help them settle in if indeed they do both come?

What happens to Benty if we buy these two? I can't see him being happy to warm the bench again for another season can you? 8O

I think if we get Pavlyuchenko it will be him or Bent playing directly upfront, Arshavin will play in the deep lying role. Ie; As a direct replacement for Keane. I don't think Berba will stay, so Bent should have every chance to play... As his only competition will be Pavlyuchenko & Perkart.

B4L i hope so but even with there kids they cannot be underestimated, i watched them yesterday against Juve and they played well. (It's gotta be said) The fact that they started with a 16 year old and and 17 year old, against a team with World Cup winners shows there potential.

Bentleys a great signing but it's a bit to expensive in my eyes!...And Arshavin is a bit to overrated for me!...only known through the euros!...would prefer sum1 else like....Villa...Hunter!...Lol

Good to get your opinions again my friend... I agree about Bentley (to an extent) but the market for some reason has become inflated this year, you only have to look at Dave Kitson going from Reading to Stoke for a whopping £5.5m!!! That's a hell of a lot of money for a sub standard player like him imo.

With regards to Arshavin the more i see of him the more i like him, he dribbles at high speed and would be hard to contain if he settled in the Premiership. Whereas Villa's strength is his goalscoring ability not so much his dribbling. The Hunter would be worth getting as a replacement for Berba if he does indeed leave?

All sorts of coverage of him, and he has impressed me greatly like i said before with his high speed dribbling.

I do this to myself every season, this year was to be different. I can not suffer another emotionally traumatic season as the one we just endured. For some reason, the heart breaking tie to Man U (Tevez) was the draw that broke the camel's already frail and burdend back. After that game I was done,I couldn't handle the emotional torment any longer, 94th minute?a rushed corner, gargoil snuck in and flicked it passed the flailing hapless wonder to tie it. I screamed and collapsed to the ground,my wife rushed down stairs to see what had happend and saw her husband on the ground in tears and agony uttering "I can't do this anymore". She knew it when she married me,she was in denial. That Saturday it dawned upon her that the father of her children needed help and he wasn't strong enough to help himself. Following that fateful weekend, she would arrange outings for us,shopping, walks in the park with the kids;anywhere away from the TV, blackberry or the PC,but her heavy heart knew from the vacant stare in my glazed eyes that the lights were on,but I was somewhere else. 4-4 to Chelsea,Berba had a chance to win it in the last second, antoher piece of me died that evening,go ahead, you can't take anything from someone who's got nothing. Then the endless draws to see out the season,it was like being on life support, pull the plug already, then 2-0 to Liverpool, beeeep. Saturdays ruined no more. No weekend anxiety, hmm,I like this new me. Have I finally cast shackles of my life long obsession? I think I can do it, I think I am free, finally got that monkey off my back. Let's just see what they're up to,not that I care,so what if they signed the Modfather, DeSantos;so what if Bentley has fitted in like he's a veteran,so what Bent scored 11 goals in 4 games,so what we have an amazing goalie. Oh no, it's happening again. Who am I kidding. I've already penned in our schedule on my calender at work. COME ON YOU SPURS!!! ON WHEN THE SPURS GO MARCHING IN... I can feel it, this year is our year

Chimpanzee absolutely superb account of the traumatic life of a Spurs fan, and i have to agree for too long it has been too painful! Hopefully this season at last there is gonna be light at the end of the tunnel... If there is a God then please, for dear mercies enough already!

Brilliant Chimpanzee...Same with me, when United scored in the 94th minute, it felt like my heart had been ripped out, i had no emotions. Exactly the same when Chimbonda missed that Penalty, i got in the shower straight away, and felt like crying!...We have had nothing for too long!...I hope there finally will be light at the end of the tunnel!...And many times i have prayed to God, and he has always failed me, so this year i will not, and just let the Spurs march on!...COYS

Do you know when Utd scored that equalizer in the 94th minute, i was in my car listening to the game live on the radio when i saw a road sign (no not by god lol) saying OUT, and in that split second i thought that is a sign from above stay out!!! Until seconds later just before that Tevez goal, i saw another road sign saying IN and literally no sooner had i seen that sign then the ball was in THE BACK OF THE NET! No word of a lie that is a true story, i could have had an accident on the road as i was so pissed off! I couldn't believe what had just happened... Surreal... Unreal!
But one things for sure it was bloody painful, and typical Spurs luck.

Haha...Weird!...As you said just typical Spurs, we deserve so much more!...Also do u remember the game last season when we played Arsenal and Berbatov just equalized with that sneeky shot and then Bendtner came of the bench and scored straight away?...my mate, a Good ...Was sitting on the other couch and i lobbed my remote at him haha, Arsenal scored, but it made me feel much better :D

Yes i remember that game you should have thrown a heavier object than a remote control lol.

The good news is there is a silver lining to this all... That is at last we are giving the Top 4 proper games when we play them, the fact that we are disappointed when you get a draw against Manure says it all! Since JR has been at the club he has managed to get one over the Ferguson's and Wenger's of this world! Hallelujah! rejoice and long may it continue, for now and the future... The futures bright... The futures Lilly White!!!

Yes now it's all about consistency, being able to perform at a high standard no matter who we are playing against.
