Which formation should Ramos play?

Sunday, 20 July 08, 01:25 AM

With the new Premier League season fast approaching, and the transfer market really hotting up! A lot of Tottenham fans would be forgiven, for having other things on their minds! Not least the Dimitar Berbatov and Robbie Keane situation... But whatever happens? I feel safe in the knowledge that in Juande Ramos, we have a proven winner. Whom i have every faith in, doing what is necessary to make us successful again... He will certainly be armed with a war chest, if the figures of players leaving are to be believed? But what I am most intrigued about, is seeing which way he will go tactically? Once all his new players are in place... Which formation will he deploy? Will he use a standard 4-4-2? or maybe go with one up top, and pack the midfield in a 4-2-3-1? Or will he try something altogether different? What do think... He will play? Or better still what do think... He should play?

This one is tricky for me, but i thnk we should play 4-1-2-1-2...basicly 4-4-2 with a diamond midfield...because it has a CDM which can hold the defense and then a CAM, LM and RM that can attack while the CDM stays further back...But then it would difficult where Modric would play...the holding or attacking...for Dinamo he played attacking, but the Euros he played more of a holding position...and he plays good in both...So i'm stuck on this one...perhaps...4-2-2-2?

Yes it is a tricky one, especially as we do not know who all the players are yet? I am pretty sure Ramos will not go with a 4-4-2, as he loves his teams to play with plenty of width, with both the full backs and the wingers getting forward... at every opportunity!

Exciting times when you think this could be Bale, Hutton, Bentley and Capel - (Probably why Malbranque is being sold?) - Certainly a mouth watering prospect, and one which makes me wonder why both our strikers want out? After all they have scored 101 goals in 2 seasons without that kind of service!!! Imagine how many they could score with those players feeding them? Not forgetting Lennon & GDS as well... Back to the question at hand playing a 4-2-3-1 for me would be ideal, as you would give the back four plenty protection (2 players holding) whilst maintaining a natural width and out numbering a lot of sides where Football matches are won? In the middle of the park...

My Spurs formation would bea
4-4-2:

GK: Gomes
RB: Hutton
CB: King
CB: Woodgate/Dawson
LB: Bale
RM: Bentley (If he comes to Tottenham)
CM: Modric
CM: Jenas
LM: Lennon/Giovani
CF: Berba/Milito(If comes to Spurs)
CF: Keane

4-2-3-1 is good if Keane and Berba go, but we need a striker that can play on their own...Can Huntelaar play on his own...he wud be ideal for me and Fads lol

Well it's certainly going to be interesting as to who Ramos brings in? Particularly up front where there are loads of questions marks... as to who will start the new season? If we do sell Keane & Berba? Maybe Bent will come good? As much as i was disappointed with him last season, he did a sterling job on his own at Charlton as a lone front man, so who knows he may redeem himself this coming campaign?

Yeah most Spurs fans rule players out to quickly, Bent is a class striker, but i think Tottenhams style was a bit different that what he is use to and plus he had Berba and Bob to challenge with...But i think e really need to get a good start that is the most important thing! and Also don't fall asleep at the end of games...

I am just praying that not only do we get Bentley? But also Capel, whom i really rate! He is a top quality prospect imo. But i have a feeling that we will only get one of the above now? I hope I am proved wrong?

Bentley needs to be done quickly...Capel also, but i also think that only one will join and Bentley is the most likely, but i think Capel is great and i think Ramos really rates him and he knows him. We need to sort out the CDM position who will it be?...Zokora for another year?...Albelda?...Hudd?...Who knows?...As for strikers well the 'list' is never ending we've been linked to about 100 different strikers already!...But now we need two of them...It's hard to think who it'll be?!?

At present too many questions, without enough answers for my liking.

I am just an impatient git! ;)

I heard that the money raised from the sales of Berba and Keane (£57m). Spurs will sign Diego Milito, Pavlyuchenko, Bentley and Capel!!!

I'm not really sure what formation he should play but looking back at the days he coached Sevilla, it will be a formation that is defense minded, one that is compact and allows the strikers to get forward quickly

Yes like i said above the 4-2-3-1
Is the way forward as it is both compact, and attacked minded with the right balance... To stop goals against, and to score goals at the right end!
