WITH THE TRANSFER WINDOW FINALLY SHUT, AND THE RUMORS DYING DOWN AT LONG LAST... SOME SPURS FANS WOULD BE ENTITLED TO FEEL A LITTLE LET DOWN, THAT WE HAVE NOT SIGNED ADEQUATE REPLACEMENTS FOR 2 CERTAIN STRIKERS.... THAT I WOULD RATHER NOT NAME, AS WE HAVE SPOKEN ABOUT THEM, ENOUGH ALREADY THIS SUMMER! BUT WITH THE JANUARY TRANSFER WINDOW NOT A MILLION MILES AWAY, WHO WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE THE CLUB REALISTICALLY SIGN? ANDREI ARSHAVIN WHO WAS LINKED ALL SUMMER? WHAT ABOUT KLAAS-JAN HUNTERLAAR, WHO SOME FEEL IS OUT OF OUR REACH? WITHOUT SOUNDING CONTRADICTORY! OR MAYBE YOU THINK IT SHOULD BE, SOMEONE ALL TOGETHER DIFFERENT? TELL ME ALL... HERE AND NOW...
Thanks moh91
If we were to get AA it would certainly make sense, pairing up two Russian International team mates for sure!

Now with Pavlyuchenko already there I believe Arshavin would be the best option.
I think that would be the best option also...
It has been said in the past that January brings other people's cast-offs or players not wanted in the main transfer window.........but then there was Woody!
I agree that to finalise the transfer of Arshavin would be best if and only if we can get him at the right price. In the long term we must find someone instead of the mercenary (someone hired to do a job for pay not loyalty) Fraizer.

Great shout about Woody! & a valid point on the current striker situation with FC.
Hopefully it doesn't get any worse, and he can repay us for now with some goals... At the very least!
i just want to see spurs play well, and if any striker then, yeah arshavin or benzema
Here here amijeet, we all want that! I think under Ramos, we can expect an exciting brand of Football... That's for sure.
Arshavin, him and Pavlyuchenko would make a great partnership!!!
Cheers Barca4Lyf
Yes they would be a fantastic prospect playing together, lets hope the club does us proud and gets him (AA) come January.

Kaka. Failing that AA.

Lol now if we had new owners the equivalent of Man City's, we might be able to dream... But not anytime soon BruceCastle my friend... You never know what can happen in the future? But one things for sure we won't be getting any Arab owners, with our Yido connection.
I would like to see Sergio 'Kun' Aguero...Klass Jan Huntelaar or Andrei Arshavin are also not bad.
micheal owen,he won't stay at 'toon.cheap to buy but wage demands could be a problem.
klose from bayern munich would be great aswell
arshavin for russian strike partnership.
but diego forlan wud be amazing what with his knack of being at the right places to score.wud be a new better epl start for forlan too.
how about sergio aguero though i think if he wants a change to epl,he wud like to go to one of the big 4 as he is already at a club with similar aims as tottenham.
But lets not get carried away as theres a long way to january and we'll need to see how bent, giovanni, campbell and pavyluchenko perform.
Smoothbum for me (nudge, nudge). Gives us something different and one of the true world class players we'd have a chance a getting. KJH for the money not sure especially as he's a bit of a plodder and a bit similar in size directness (is that even a word?) etc to what we've got. Owen would be good if we got him on the cheap & you could give him a pay as you play deal.
I'd love to see Capel at Spurs 2 ( he's a winger but I'd like him at Spurs in January).
Some interesting suggestions guys... Keep em coming!
Although one or two I am not so sure about... Like Forlan for example, as he was a complete flop last time. Capel i would love to see... But can't see? What with the politics between the 2 Clubs? And he is a winger anyway? (Barca4Lyf - This is about strikers not wingers! haha)
Other suggestions like Michael Owen may be a good option? Following in the footsteps of Greaves, & Lineker as deadly England marksmen down at the Lane! Sergio 'Kun' Aguero would be pure fantasy Football, but then again we got Giovani... So you never know? KJH would be my No 1 choice... If it could happen it would be immense and he would more then compensate for the "sulky" Bulgarian!
onedavemackay surely you can do better than that.
michael owen is a proven prem striker but wages and fitness could be a problem. if pavluchenko settles in ok then arshavin would compliment him perfectly, not getting him in the last transfer window may have been a blessing in disguise, now we wont be bedding in two strikers not used to the prem at the same time.excelent post by the way longlivetheking.
Thank you SPURSBOY
I am glad that you like the post, hopefully you will continue to come on here and air your views.

Yeah, I know Capel is a winger but still he'd be a great addition to Spurs!!!
Fredi Kanoute or Luis Fabiano from Sevilla would be great at Spurs 2!!!
just to add a bit more, if we do get a quality striker in january stick the manc in the reserves and let him develop there

I personally would only like Fabiano out of the 2, first off he's 27 rather than 31. Secondly he would excite me more than the return of Kanoute back at Spurs, because let's face the last time he was here... He hardly set the world on fire! Anyhow that is just my opinion.

Lets see what happens come January, but it looks like we are going to need him in the meantime what with Pav being Cup tied. (for the UEFA Cup)
I have to say i have been unimpressed with Frazier's comments, about using our great Club as a stepping stone to develop the cheeky bastard!
If George Best is not available I suggest we buy Arshavin and Huntelaar and get rid of Barren Dent

I have to agree with you 99% on getting rid of Bent, and getting those 2 badboys for our Attack... That would be spot on.
I want Huntelaar, seen vids on youtube(I know, I know!) but the bloke's touch and timing are exquisite. No fear of mixing it with defenders either. Prob looking at €25 M or upwards, but hey c'mon Danny L cough up, he's worth it. I suppose AA would be good for Pav, but KJH is an out and out striker, and especially after last seasons goal haul, we need to at least maintain that or improve if we're serious contenders for top six this year. Bent should be 3rd choice, don't think we should get rid, might need him one day!

Would prefer Huntelaar to be our No1 target this January, but can't see that happening unless he plays the 'sulky ones' card with Ajax.
The most likely are Owen, especially with the shambolic goings on at St. James' & Arshavin as long as Zenith play ball this time!
Cheers Dimpsys12 it's good to get your views on here. I think Owen would be great if he can stay fit? Which is a big "IF" He along with Pav or any other target man at the Club, would be the perfect foil, little and large.
As for AA i think we may have missed the boat, by not signing him while we had the chance this summer? I think that other Clubs will be interested come January... But only time will tell where he will end up?
either Hunteler or Villa, we need an out and out striker, maybe Ashton as
third choice but still bring in Asharvin.

Cheers for your input Brightyid.
I think Villa may be out of reach, especially after his superb form in the Euro's. Teams like Barca, Real, Chelski and now even City with there new found wealth are interested, and they will be able to afford him unlike us? I have heard some astronomical figures, being bandied around for his signature, up and above the ÂŁ30m mark! As for Dean Ashton i like him, but he is way too injury prone for my liking. We have enough players like that already at the club! So for me it would have to be the "Hunter" & AA. If we could get them i would be over the moon.
I think we've all got too carried away with who we haven't signed and ignored some exceptional acquisitions.
Love him or hate him Berba is an exceptional player and there is no obvious replacement. But given that Pavlova has a pretty good scoring ratio and we now have a much more creative midfield there is no reason to suppose we can't still score a bucketful this season.
But for me the biggest plus is Ramos. It's the manager that matters most and this guy looks like the real deal.
COYS
That is a very valid point onedavemackay, with regards to the abundance of new talent, that has been carelessly overlooked by a lot of fans.
We are a lot stronger in midfield in particular, & certainly in goal where we no longer have the hapless Robinson!!! Our defense has King and Bale back in it to, along with the new boy Corluka. (I cannot wait for the return of Hutton as well... Has anyone heard when he is due back?)
Let's just hope we get a positive result against Villa tomorrow, 3pts are an absolute must. But we as fans must be patient... The whole team is still very new, and as Teddy Sheringham rightly pointed out it will take time to gel. We may not as he says see the best from the team until Xmas, especially as a lot of our signing's are from Latin America and Eastern Europe.
Here's the Link of what Teddy says.

Agreed. We are so much stronger than 12 months ago and whilst I'd be gutted to lose to the Brummies we all need to give Ramos and all of them time.
Let's hope the majority of Spurs fans, share mine and your patience onedavemackay.
Arshavin and Huntelaar and get rid of Bent - sounds like heaven.

Sure we need a striker of note but imho we will never get anywhere
until we have an attacking midfield playmaker a la Hoddle or Gascoigne. Its whats been lacking for years. Wadyatink?

I think that Gazza (dribbler) & Hoddle (passer) are very different players, Gio is the closest to the former and Modric is the closest to the latter.
Either way for me the most important missing piece in the jigsaw puzzle for me is the role of DM, we need someone who can protect the back four whilst winning the ball and feeding the creative players.
Zokora is not the answer imo and neither is Huddlestone as he is not mobile enough, if only we could mold the Ivorian with the big man! We would have the perfect answer, athleticism with passing ability.
I'm with DV, a decent defensive midfielder should be priority over attacking options. IF we get a decent DM, then look at ditching Bent and getting another striker in. Pavlyuchenko can't play upfront by himself either, he's far better with someone up with him.
Gio playing behind him would be an option in my eyes..
Yes playing with just one striker up front, is not working for us at the moment. Especially when we fall behind, and have to chase games. Bent or Pav look far too isolated and distant from the action, in actual fact the best we have looked as an attacking threat imo, is when FC (Frazier) has played up top with one of them?

Good shout both would add much needed physical power up front, which we are clearly lacking.
Just thought about this during a bout of Football Manager - Giuseppe Rossi!
either santa cruz or wait and snatch ZAKI,though i wonder how expensive he'll be then

Fernando Torres...Haha Joke...Erm...I would love to see KJH...but i think its unlikely...i dont see Arshavin as a proper striker...But he is seen as a strike...so it would have to be him, but i personally would love KJH
Here's hoping and wishing for late Xmas presents from Santa, in the January transfer window
