Oguchi Onyewu - Good Deal or Not!

Was Onyewu a good deal?

      The question everyone is asking, was Onyewu a good deal? Many foreign tifose are saying that he was not a good deal for Milan. Everyone wants Milan to sign a superstar defender. In my opinion they are wrong. Not because I'm American, but because I see his deal in a different view.

      According to Galliani, Onyewu is a replacement for Senderos, and not Maldini. Thiago Silva is consider the replacement for Papa' Maldini. Despite the negative comments by Milan Tifose, Senderos actually did a good job. He proved something, he showed that Milan needed younger defender. He was covering areas the other defenders were not doing. At the end of the 08/09 season, he was given more play time than before. He was doing a good job.

     Onyewu would be Senderos replacement. Another point why he was a good deal is because he holds a Belgium Passport. He will be registered to Milan as a EU player instead of a Non-EU because he was from USA. Cissokho would have been registered as a non-eu, taking a spot on the list that Milan is restricted to buying non-EU players. Thiago Silva will take one of those spots because he is from Brazil. Thiago Silva will be registered this season as a non-EU player. Now Milan has plenty of space for Players like Luis Fabiano who is Brazilian.

      As you can see, Milan did a good deal. They made their defense stronger by adding Onyewu and he was free. Senderos would have cost plenty of money for Milan to keep. Onyewu will prove to be a good addition to Milan. He may not be the fastest, but he is good at standing his ground against the strongest opponents. 

     I hope the best for Onyewu, and that he will play his hardest to prove everyone they were wrong about him.
