Oguchi Onyewu is acquired by Milan
Milan has confirmed the acquisition of Former Standard Liege Center-Back. Onyewu will start training with the team this summer according to Milan. Milan has officially confirmed by their website that Onyewu is a Rossoneri player.
Onyewu's contract with Standard Liege expired this June. in which Milan was able to acquire him without a transfer fee. Contract has been signed by both Milan and Onyewu until June of the year 2012. A 3-year contract was signed by Onyewu making him a defender for the Rossoneri.
Onyewu who had and amazing time playing for the U.S. team during confederation cup was quickly acquired by Milan while other teams were also interested in him. Onyewu is most known for stopping Fernando Torres from penetrating the American defense in the Confederations Cup of 2009. Also for his trademark toss in of the ball as if he was a Basketball player.
Onyewu who was loan to New Castle, had a terrible season, but returned to Standard Liege were he recovered his confidence. Milan has completed a task which has been requested by them a long time ago, which was to buy more defenders.
Many are saying Onyewu will barely get any time to play in Milan. I believe he will get to play more time in Milan, due to the fact that Nesta suffers from many back pains. Maldini who has retired, has left an empty spot for Onyewu to play at. Thiago Silva and Onyewu will be the new defenders to be seen for the 09-10 season of the Series A.
Onyewu was probably happy to get away from Belgium due to the fact that he was the center of Racist attacks constantly in Belgium. I hope he is not treated like that in the Italians League. But its not guaranteed, since Balotelli from Inter has also been attack with Racist comments.
Onyewu will begin training with the squad. This makes me happy, since I will get to see an American in My favorite team. I believe he will do well in Milan because he is 6'4", which means he will be able to take down Italians which are known to be tall.
He will do well, I believe so.

i would think onyewu can play for any team. he was in a slump, but really showed he was back in form during the usa Conf Cup run. you will enjoy watching him. i also thought it interesting about the racism you sometimes see in europe. i have run into some people outside the states that have the view that the usa are a bunch of racist. we do have some, but no where near as much in other parts of the world. for the most part we favore talent not skin color.
i tot dis guy is a nija
Have a look at my blog on Onyewu to see why he owes me a bowl of Corc flakes
