We meet again...

Sunday, 20 July 08, 09:07 AM · Comments(0)

We meet again after another busy break, such is my hectic routine that time management is becoming a serious issue. So much has happened between now and the last post, I hope I can recall everything. Anyways lets start, shall we?

There were some roller coaster times at the office in the last few weeks. I was working on a project, which involved more than one client representatives. One of them was good in the way he communicated with me and the way he asked for the things to be done. I did not know about the other one until a little later when I got an email from him which was full of sarcasm and ugly language criticizing needlessly each and everything I had done in that project. Just a day before that, the other person had approved my work and suggested little minor changes. It was hard to read that email and it was hard not to feel personal about that. Advent of other important works meant I could not talk to the boss about that email right then but later on I decided not to talk about it after all since both the clients were fast friends of the boss and boss wasn't charging them a single penny for doing that project. Now I have finished that project and if my information is correct, their website has already sold tickets worth more than 100,000 Rs for their Broadway musical show. It starts on 27th July.

After more than 22 years of life as a purist, Waqar finally indulged into the world of 'romantic' affairs with a random girl from internet/phone last month. I for one was happy with Waqar, as he seemed to enjoy talking to that girl. Things at times were flirtatious but both knew their limits and deep down knew it was all a pass-time thingy. There is however always a chance of things going wrong when you seek advises from a mentor in the shape Naveed ‘the love legend' Qamar. I don't know what advices the legend gave to poor Waqar but the love saga reached a very anti-climactic end 2 days ago. She told Waqar that she was in Islamabad in pizza Hut. Waqar decided to see her, assembled his troops, which consisted of 3 other friends of him and went to Pizza Hut as fast as he could. Apparently there was no girl there that matched that girls' description. Still Waqar and his friends thoroughly searched the Pizza Hut. After loosing all hope they called the girl and asked where are you, she said I am sitting on xyz table there. With my family. You can see me from distance but I can't meet you. Instead there was this old 35 year old obese aunty sitting on that table smiling at Waqar with a grimace of a medieval witch Waqar was rightfully disgusted. He was not only played fool by some random chick from the Internet, he also had to pay for the pizza that he and his friends ate there. When munna bhai's love was married off to some one else, munna bhai felt helpless and drank till 2 in the morning that night. Waqar did kind of same thing, just to get over the disappointment. Not exactly drinking, he leads a clean life in that respect. He and his friends went for a long drive to Muree and then Pir Sohawa that night and spent whole night driving on the hills and chilling out. According to Waqar it was really fun. He told me one really funny moment of that night. On their way to top of Pir Sohawa, they encountered various dogs who would bark at a vehicle wandering alone in ‘their territory' so late in the night. Every time a pack of dogs barked at them these silly folks would get out of the car and bark back at them :D Stupid I know but it feels great in the heat of the moment.

Now almost three weeks later, Waqar is finally over all this and now he remembers the whole saga as just another stupid memory from the bachelor era.

One of the nephews of our project manager kept coming to the office with him for one week. His name is Hasan and he is a 17 year old. He had come from Lahore on his vacations and was living with the project manager. In order to kill his boredom at home, project manager used to bring him with him to the office. One day when I was going back home with the project manager and Hasan in his car, suddenly we realized that one of the rear tires had gone flat. And such was its situation that car could not be driven even one meter further. To make matters even worse, the spare tire was also found out to be flat. I suggested that we take the tire out and take it to a tire workshop that was about 10-15 minutes walking distance from that place. But in order to get there we needed to climb a small hill that stretched parallel to the road where out car was standing. Hasan, and me we took out the tire took it to the tire workshop and after half an hour we took it back to fix it in the car and continue our journey. When we were coming down that hill, it was hasan's turn to handle the tyre. He told me he was about to roll the tire down the hill. I told him that it would be a stupid idea as the tire will generate a lot of speed and there is traffic running on the road down there. He overlooked my advice and let it loose. And when he did that he told me don't you worry, the tire will stop before the road because it will fall into that channel for water that is on the near side of the road. When tire was on its half way Hasan realized the seriousness of his mistake. Tire was moving with tremendous velocity. When it got on the road, it was moving with tremendous pace and was bouncing all over the place. Brakes screeched and vehicles swiveled in order to avoid hitting a tire that had come rolling down the hill. Thankfully tire did not hit any vehicle although 2-3 vehicles came really very close. They must have been wondering in disgust and disbelief, where the hell did this alien come from. Our project manager who saw all this was absolutely livid. And rightly so, it could have become a mega disaster and even could have killed some one. Since that day Hasan has not managed to come to our office with the project manager :D

In order to make this post not so long, I would finish it here. There is still a lot to talk about and that is next.
