Eurocast, the Euro 2008 podcast, episode 13 - plus semi-final predictions

Monday, 23 June 08, 10:40 AM

Morning all,

hope you enjoyed the weekend's football. There wasn't much to enjoy about last night's game between Spain and Italy apart from the fact the negative Italians got knocked out. A feast of football it was not.

Russia were excellent against Holland and I'm looking forward to the game against Spain. And despite all their injuries and suspensions you just can't write off Turkey. That's two remarkable comebacks now although I fear they're probably a bit too stretched to trouble the Germans.

So, semi-final predictions from me:

Germany 3-1 Turkey

Spain 2-1 Russia

Yours in the comments as per usual.

Now, in today's Eurocast Tom and I discuss all the weekend's action, make some suggestions about how to stop players kicking the ball out when someone is "injured" and we talk to Luigi about Spain's win over his home country and our Dutch correspondent Ashwin.

Please remember we do want to hear what you think about Euro 2008. It's easy.

A bit early to make predictions, I'll wait for possible injury news.
Not that I'll get more chance of getting it right, mind!

Germany 1-0 Turkey
Spain 4-2 Russia

4-2 because the most goals we've had so far was 5 in the 4-1 between NL and FR, but now that the two most attacking sides are facing eachother, why not six ;) (Shitty logic, wishful thinking).

Alright, forgot people would use up all the possibilities, so no original predictions possible so let's go.
Germany 4 - 1 Turkey
Spain 4 - 3 Russia (aet: 2-2 after normal time).
Now if I get any of these rights, I'll be the first person surprised!

Turkey 2-1 Germany The turks are too inspired right now.

Germany - Turkey 2-0
The Turks sadly don't have a decent team to put together.
Russia - Spain 2-1
Difficult one to predict because the Russians are so unpredictable.

Russia going to beat spain, and then beat the germans to lift the cup. As the underdog throughout it all, make your money when the odds are good :P

I've managed to scrape up the audacity to think that Russia may actually go 2-1 against Spain. Who knows?

Spain should wipe out Russia big time, Germany Should Wipe out Turkey.
And the Spanish Press should all go fuck themselves.

GER 0:0 TUR (Germany wins in penalty shootaouts)
ESP 1:2 RUS (I do think that Russians are the main favorites of winning the Cup)
