Morning all,
a bit later than usual but better late than never. Although that remains open to discussion. Let's start as usual with the predictions. Firstly congrats to ElTorro and 4ndyL who both got the Croatia v Poland result correct yesterday.
I keep expecting lots of goals in games, perhaps it's time to think differently. So for today:
Romania 1-2 Holland
Italy 1-0 France
Expect a glut of goals now! In today's Eurocast, the Euro 2008 podcast, we talk to German correspondant Tom about the 1-0 win over Austria and he's not optimistic about Germany's chances against Portugal in the next round. We also catch up with our regular Italian correspondant Gabriele and he previews Italy v France from an Italian perspective.

Till tomorrow...
Its about time France perform. And considering that it isn't cloudy Domenech should have no problems reading the stars. Start Benzema, don't play two holding midfielders, give Gallas a kick up
the arse and tell him to stop acting like a nancy, give Nasri some playing time. Italy stand no chance.
And your predictions, Number8?
Ollie, 3-3, that'd be nice.
Although my money is elsewhere tonight.
I think Domenech is more or less going to start the team people expected him to start in the FIRST game tonight (given his squad selection anyway...). A bit late. The trend is Benzema-Henry upfront, Gallas-Abidal (OK that wasn't quite expected) in the miffle of defence. Clerc or DHcunt (Diarra for those who don't know ;-) ) at right back. No Malouda (Ribery on the left). I suspect he'll still go with Makelele-Toulalan, fairly conservative in the middle, but I've seen mentions that Makelele could be dropped (in which case I guess Diarra would play in the middle, can't see Domenech being adventurous enough to play Nasri).
if its 3 - 3 ollie you are the undisputed winner of all this guessing
Abidal in the French squad ahead of Clichy?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
Oh wait...
Yes, really:
L'EQUIPE DE FRANCE : Coupet - Clerc, Gallas, Abidal, Evra - Makelele, Toulalan - Ribéry, Govou - Henry, Benzema.
apparently (according to L'Equipe.fr)
Just as I said.
Or rather not as I said, as Diarra's is not playing. But you get my drift.
I suppose Makelele is just including to to the dirty fouling.
Best of luck tonight Ollie. I'm going to watch the Holland game more relaxed than I ever imagined I would be.
Actually, no, reading back that's what I said. I think I must leave work now, I'm getting tired ;-)
Hitzel, d_gaffa, fskis and Number8 all got the Holland result right. Well done.
I'll try to make more reasonable predictions from now on :-)
Was watching the Holland game yesterday. Did Gallas cry again or was he a big boy yesterday?
Didn't see him cry. Guess he was also the only decent French defender on the pitch.
I'm supporting Holland all the way now, N8. Hope it's not the kiss of death! ;-)
Yay, half right \o/
Although any form of happiness is vanquished by the most unjust (well, guess not the way Les Bleus have been performing) qualification of Italy to the quarter finals. Hajde Hrvatska!
