Podcast 44 needs you!

Monday, 11 February 08, 11:22 PM

Howdy OleOle-ers, on this week's The Week in Football we'll be discussing the proposed foreign round in the Premier League. I'm sure you've read all about it by now but what do you think?

With OleOle members from all over the world we'd love to get your comments for this week's show.

Is it a terrible idea that will start the game on a slippy slope from which it might never recover?

Is it a great idea that will allow fans from all over the world to see their favourite teams in the flesh?

Will it damage local leagues?

Is there a fair way of making the draw for the 39th game?

Would you pay to see United v Arsenal or would you pay to see Derby v Sunderland?

Whatever you think about it leave a comment here on the blog or email your comments to podcast@oleole.com and we'll discuss them on this week's show.

Thanks in advance,

John Johnson and Tom Thom(p)son.

Bad idea. Let's de-anglicize the prem even more. Let's belittle all the other new leagues IE MLS, A League, K League, J League, etc. It's all about money. What about the players? Will they drop dead on the field or end their career at 25? January is a cold month in most of the world. What next a super league just like the NFL? BS! And no - noone is interested in watching any of the teams below 10th.

I can understand the idea of bringing matches to countries where there is a mass support to the premier league and clubs such as Arsenal or Liverpool as there are a lot of fans outside england. However this idea seems another thoughtless plan for many reasons:
a) players already play too many games in a season, another match may increase fatigue in players.
b)Clubs such as bolton and middlesborough, fail to consistenlty fill up their stadiums at home, what makes them think they can do so abroad?
c)Once clubs start making more money from this plan, whats to say they will not increase it to two games abroad and then before you know it half of the season is being played abroad, which will be a major problem for fans in england
