Sunday, 05 October 08, 09:42 AM · Comments(0)

Valencia defender Raúl Albiol has been cleared to play for Spain next week for their round of World Cup qualifiers.

Albiol and Spain have received some good news after it was confirmed that the versatile defender will be available for La Selección’s World Cup qualifying campaign next week.

The 22 year old pulled up with a muscle injury during Valencia’s midweek UEFA Cup clash with Marítimo and there were fears that he would be ruled out for some time.

But further tests were carried out on Friday and the club’s official website have revealed that he only suffered minor cramps in his left thigh and there were no muscular tear of any sort.

As such, he will be at national team coach, Vicente del Bosque’s disposal but he is likely miss Valencia’s league clash with Real Valladolid on Sunday.

Spain will take on Estonia on October 11 before a more daunting trip to Belgium four days later.
