The game against Milan on Tuesday is a pivotal game in our season and if we are to beat a very experienced Milan side we will have to play better than we did against Aston Villa on Saturday. There was a clear imbalanceI thought in the midfield and I think the root cause of that imbalance was Diaby. Now I don’t want to consider myself as an ‘amchair fan’ and I hope that I’m not, but I think Wenger made a tactical Faux Pas in thrusting Diaby straight back into the side after his injury as he clearly wasn’t fit and this counted against us more so with him also not being a left midfielder. So if we still don’t have Rosicky back for tomorrow, then who do we play there? Well has anyone thought of playing Traore at left midfield? Now, many of you will think I have gone barmy but hear me out. We all know he had a bit of a nightmare against Manchester United, but playing ahead of Clichy would firstly give him more match day experience and give greater strength defensively against the likes of Seedorf et al, which along with Flamini keeping Kaka quiet is a very important job. Going forward he would offer more of the traditional left winger which is something we really could have done with on Saturday and he could easily beat Oddo for pace to put in a cross for Adebayor and, if he plays, Bendtner. I seem to remember Clichy playing ahead of Ashley Cole when Robert Pires was injured three or four years ago, and Wenger already has had Eboue playing ahead of Sagna this season, both combinations of which have had some success. This then begs the question: why not? So with that in mind, my starting line-up for tomorrow would be thus:-
---------------Almunia-------------
Sagna---Senderos---Gallas---Clichy
Hleb---Fabregas---Flamini---Traore
---------Walcott---Adebayor-------
Subs Lehmann, Hoyte, Eboue, Diaby, Gilberto, Van Persie, Bendtner
If all goes well and the Traore/Clichy combination, then theoretically we could continue that into the weekend game at Wigan and who knows, it could even provide an extra boost that our squad needs to push on and win the Premiership and the Champions League. Yes its a controversial and some may say crazy idea, but then they said Einstein was crazy....
