It's hours before the start of the Euro 2008 final between Germany and Spain and I'm still not quite sure who to cheer for. It's Cesc versus Jens, it's the hated Germans versus the hated (though less successful) Spanish and it's for all the marbles. That's if marbles are still the prize awarded to winning teams.
Granted I'd love to have seen England in the tournament, but let's face it the Euros have been great this year. It's been a pleasure just to enjoy football without having to watch as the English media, which is generally the media I use to get my football information, obsess over David Beckham's foot or whether Wayne Rooney is going to get himself kicked out of another game. At this point of a major tournament everyone's generally feeling bitter and angry as they make excuses about why this just wasn't England's year. This time however we just realized that the team was shit months before the football actually started, and so we could stay at home and enjoy.
The crap thing is I work today at eleven, which here in Vancouver is when the Euros are starting. I'm not sure what to do. Typically with games that I can't watch I try to follow along with a minute-by-minute description on The Guardian's website, but I'd actually like to watch the final. The question is whether I can avoid hearing the result all day, get home and watch a replay.
Unlikely, but it might be worth a try. Also coming down with the flu in the next hour might be worth a try.
try watching on espn360.com if you can. you can actually watch the game instea...
Being an Arsenal fan in Canada isn't always easy. This blog follows both the team that I love, and myself. Also includes the Vancouver Whitecaps games that I attend.
