Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and New Kits

Saturday, 13 June 09, 08:21 AM · Comments(18)

There seems to be a pattern emerging. While Florentino Perez is posting blank cheques around mainland Europe, hoovering stars like some kind of intergalactic Dyson, Spurs are being linked with every member of the group labelled ‘Madrid Overspill.’ There isn’t room for everyone in the Perez revolution, you see; some will be sacrificed for the sake of progress (insert sinister laugh). For every Kaka coming in there must be a Van Der Vaart heading the other way. We’re waiting at the foot of the table ready to catch whatever tumbles our way.

The only prerequisite for a link to Spurs seems to be a) Are you Dutch? b) Are you worse than David Villa?  or c) Are you better than Darren Bent? If these boxes can be ticked with a biro then it’s likely you’re heading to White Hart Lane. If you believe what you read in the papers that is. Which you most certainly should.

 (cough)

First it was Sneijder, then Van Nistlerooy and now Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.

With RVN demanding a stable wage packet big enough to sink the Mary Rose, our man in Spain has, allegedly, turned his attentions to the Klaas in a Glass striker. Of course, we’ve been here before. As the minute hand sped by last September it appeared likely that Huntelaar would be joining us along with Super Pav. Instead we ended up with Frazier Campbell as our third striker. Which was just dreadful.

While you muse over the likelihood of this deal coming to fruition have a look at these leaked pictures of the new Spurs kit. Are they real?

  Well…it looks that way.

The only thing which concerns me is the fact that Lennon appears to be heading the kit launch.

  Robbie Keane did last years.

8) I'd like to see Klaas at the lane- whether he'd come is another thing. I don't know why we've been linked to so many Madrid players. The whole Ramos to Madrid seemed bonkers too. Something fishy going on. I'd like to see Gago an KJH at the Lane. Both got something to prove.

On the kits thing... if those are the photos then PSB to sunderland me thinks... also I thought Mansion were contract expired... hence the lateness of the kit launch?

Do you think the new kits will help entice players of this ilk? Or will KJH and co cry out in unison "Fcuk off...I'm not wearing that!"

Would be quite happy to see our squad stocked with ex-Real players. It's a step up from ex-West Ham.

Hope those kits aren't bona fide though. No need for the yellow streaks.

It's still possible they could be fake. It wouldn't take to much hocus pocus on photshop to come up with that. I couldn't do it, obviously, but you know..

If we were going to miss out on a player, I suppose there could be more humiliating ways of doing it. ie. "I'm not playing for them...They're shit!"

Of course, he'd be way off the mark.

A good point. No-one wants off-cuts of Spam. We want fillet steak.

I don't think the kits are that bad, assuming they are legit. Would get used to them by the end of next season, and they will go and bring a new kit out anyway. Would prefer an all white kit tho.

Would really love to see KJH at the lane, but can't really see it myself. He will definately think that he has a point to prove, although his record of 8 in 20 isn't all that bad. I still think he could command a move to a CL team.

Van der Vaart would also be an awesome signing, but where would you play him with Modric in the team? If both were to start, then H would have to push Modric out onto the left wing, unless he played both in the centre, but wot about Sgt Wilson?

Robben would be good, but having won every medal you can in Prem, then I don't think he would have the motivation.

Again, the Sneijder situation would be similar to that of Van der Vaart.

If we had to take three of the six cloggies at Real, I would take KJH, Roysten Drenthe and one of either Sneijder or VdV. Ideally Levy will pinch all four.

Drenthe is definately an out and out left sider, but I think there are questions over whether he is a LB or LM, similar to Bale in that respect.

If I could pick my dream team for next year;

Gomes

Bale
King
Woodgate
Hutton

Lennon
Modric
Van der Vaart
Drenthe

Defoe
Huntelaar

What about Robben? I heard his name bandied about too.

Beat me to it. Robben and Drenthe both have been linked.

No Palacios in your XI? I would think the team needs building around him, doesn't it?

Don't mind the kits. Although I was a fan of the hooped socks and I'm not sure about the yellow detail. I suppose what I'm saying is, I preferred the old one. =D

Must've been a mistake. No sane Spurs man could have Wilson anywhere other than the heart of our midfield.

Next thing, he'll be wanting Ossie back as manager to play only attacking football. Totally bonkers.

I actually quite like Sgt Wilson, however as a spurs fan, I would field eleven strikers.

Like I said above, it would be a dream eleven. I'd love to be able to shoehorn Adel and Gio in there too, maybe at the expense of Gomes and ref, but I think someone might notice.

is there a rule which states a team has to field a keeper then? wont get away with swapping the ref though. only manure get away with having a supporter ref appointed to their home games.

re kits, who gives a toss as long as its not red,

I'm not 100% but didn't Van der Vaart play left wing for Hamburg before moving to Spain? If my dream of the Real Dutch contingent coming to us become a reality, we would be awsome and defo top 4 contenders. If Rednapp pulls this off I would have to totally slap myself silly and name all my offsprings as Harry or Harriette. Still think Babel is a realistic target for the left mid slot. :D

I quite like the new kits, especially the go fast socks and will enjoy watching Lennon skinning full backs next season!

I understand why it may not be to everyone's taste but at least it aren't red as spursforme pointed out. Still prefer the basic all lilywhite top and navy short & sock combo, no fancy stripe or swish millarky.
