Ahoy there.
A word of caution. If you ever decide to visit Cairo in the near future, particularly if it involves a back-crippling, desert traversing, eight hour coach trip from the south coast in the small hours of the morning, perhaps don’t choose the day when Egypt are hosting Algeria in a World Cup qualifying decider and the City is on relative lockdown; traffic has stalled, shops are abandoned and from every stationary, horn-honking mini-bus there’s a national flag being hoisted from the sun-roof. Even the tour guides are clear with their instructions; ‘When you’re in Egypt, you support Egypt.’
Crumbs.
As far as I could make out, amongst all the chaos, the hosts won 2-0. It was often hard, however, to distinguish the enthusiasm for joy or despair. I just know that it took two and a half hours to negotiate our way back through Cairo on the return leg when usually, we were told, it takes less than an hour. The Capital was rocking on its threadbare hinges.
Anyway, enough waffle from me. I’ve been out of the loop for a week now with my wires all but snipped; no phone, no internet, no rags and certainly no news to pad out the content of this post with. Heck, if I was charging membership I’d expect a call from Watchdog for swindling the customers. Talking of dodgy tradesmen, from the footage I saw this morning, FIFA might attract a similar investigation on behalf of the Irish F.A this week. Henry’s attempts to keep the ball alive with a tidy bitch slap has unearthed a plethora of disgruntled Dublinites. Calls for replays, banning the Gallic Gillette wielder, torching Sepp Blatters’ house to the ground; all, probably, reasonable reactions to a glaring case of injustice.
They’re all fecking mad across the sea. But nice to see Robbie Keane approaching the matter with his usual ice-cool nonchalance:
‘Why won’t anybody listen to me? It’s a conspiracy, I tells thee!’
Sure it is, Bob.
Sure it is.

Did you see the scenes from last nights Egytian related shenanigans in Sudan? There were scenes of players getting off the team bus and being pelted with huge chunks of rock/concrete walls. Blood was streaming from heads, and the highlights showed that there was as much blood and thunder on the pitch. Crazy I tell you. Crazy. 1-0 the final score and Algeria are through. God only knows how you would have enjoyed your trip to Cairo had you tavelled there last night!
Welcome back.
I'll be watching the post for my belly dancer.

Hey, Trembles.
No I didn't see any of the action last night. I did hear there was a bit of kafuffle to say the least. There didn't seem to be any violence of any kind in Cairo, just a lot of charged locals running around the streets, waving flags, making lots of noise. Watching the news when we got back to the hotel, though, we did see a few skirmishes with the Algerians. It's a run down old City is the Capital, so it would be difficult to work out whether the buildings were already busted up or torn down by the vehement fans and used as missles.
As you say, a Ceerazy lot.

Too bloomin' right. Back to the good stuff and enough with these international breaks. It seems to bring all the nutters out of the woodwork...
Let's throw caution to the wind: 5-1 Spurs, with Defoe getting the lot.
Be interesting to see what happens with Furious Bob. An emotional 120 minutes Wednesday has to have whittled his fitness down, and Pav won't get a sniff. If PSB needs rest that leaves 3MP and Deffo.
Welcome to Hoofball!
