Zokora is No-more-a

Wednesday, 08 July 09, 01:29 PM · Comments(12)

By the power of Grey-skull!

Tottenham’s transfer carousel has just spluttered into a life again. I was just getting ready to pull a veil of the lifeless body when I received the stirring news:

Zokora has signed for Seville.

*ominous chords*

The exact figure is not clear, but it looks as if Levy’s hardball tactics may have paid off and we’ve at least recoup an excess of the £8.2 million we paid in 2006. If this is the case, then tip of the cap to Daniel for a shrewd bout of negotiations. Lord knows how he managed it- I can only guess that he’d posted Seville a brochure of the Ivorian with somebody else’s head superimposed atop dear Didier’s.

Perhaps a spot of tippex on the column marked ‘qualities.’

In all seriousness, I’m going to miss Zokora. Possibly in the same way that I’d miss an energetic but, ultimately, daft dog. He runs around aimlessly with a smile as wide as a drawer handle. The stick which he’s found in the river hangs from his mouth but you don’t have the heart to tell him it’s the wrong stick and the other team have already scored. That’s Didier.

The heart is willing but the head (and feet) are not. He never did score, either. I always thought he had a rocket in him somewhere. Perhaps he’ll find his shooting boots in warmer climates. I hope he does.

While I wish him all the best in Spain, I’ve fingers crossed that the move will kick start a bit of action from the other end. The door at WHL opens both ways.

Feel free to share your best memories of the departing Zokora.

COY-bloomin' S!!!

I always wondered if he was a bit of a diver. At times I thought he went down easier than a cheerleader on prom night Other times I would think it couldn't be on purpose, as he clearly hadn't mastered that whole walking/chewing gum bit.

Anyway, adios Zok. Vaya con dios.

:D A lovely hommage to didier.

I wish him well. Let's pray that our next number 4 will score more than Nicola Berti, David Howells and sweet sweet Zokora.
Coys!

Zok played his best game in the CC final. Mad as a box of snakes and twice as lively.

A complete waste of space, this one. I've waited a long time for this. That fucking cunt Comolli.

Zokora had the key flaw of not being able to pass to a team-mate without falling over or skewering it towards the touchline.

If he had Hudd's passing accuracy he'd be a class act.

Sad really.

I think most of this is unfair and I note that poor old Commoli gets dragged in again.
See my article on my blog or on Spurs Community website for a fairer assessment.

All the best .... If 1/2 of our currrent first team had Zokoras commitment then we would be in the CL by now (but not his footballing talent)... I wish a bit of the good half of zokora was in every player we had!! Good luck, thanks and all the best...

As for comoli the "daft but happy dog" could have done a better job... The only fair and just assessment would be a 'job seekers allowance assessment' cause if i had performed like him at work thats exactly what i would be experiencing now!!! Tell me JimmyG2 how many players that t1t signed that were a success????? Even Berbatov (his debatable only success) was a complete disaster in the end!!!

As for comoli the "daft but...

I wrote an article for Spurs Community on Commoli and reckoned that arguably 25 out of 31 signings were good or bought for the future.
If you are going to argue that Berbatov was a failure then you are not going to accept my point.
Even Ekotto who we wrote off became one of our best players.
Heres 10 to be going on with;
Berbatov,Modric,Gomes,Corluka,Hutton,Bostock Rose,Zokora,Malbranque,Dervite.
The rest are on my blog for October 2008.
Sorry Foxy not intending to take over your blog.

None taken, Jimmy. ;)

Your piece on Zok was a well argued piece of writing; the majority of which I agreed with. Many of the digs I aim at players are to be taken with pinch of salt. I commend Zokora's enthusiasm, work-rate and effort for the cause. But now he needs replacing.

I urge everyone to read Jimmy's blog immediatley. It's a fitting tribute to the man: Clicky LINK
