About the China Super League

The Chinese Football Association Super League, also known as the China Super League (CSL) is the top level professional football league in China. It was created in 2004, and currently has 15 competing teams. It is of a fairly good standard, with teams managing to make good progress in the Asian Champions League. Most of the Chinese national football team currently play in the CSL, and the standard has proved good enough for bigger clubs from Europe to sign players from there.

Chinese Super League Players

There are several foreign players from Europe and South America who play in this league, and are on high salaries compared to local players, although teams are limited to having only 3 foreign players. Similar to the J-League, foreign players are brought in to raise the standard of the game, provide strength in areas where Chinese players are lacking, and in some cases also help to improve the younger Chinese players. Foreigners in the CSL have come mostly from Brazil and Serbia.
