The competition takes places ever two years. The 2007 competition took place between June 6- June 24th.

Competition Format

The twelve teams that qualify for the tournament are divided into three groups. The top two teams in each group advanced to the knockout stage along with the best two of the third-place teams, filling out the knockout field of eight.

The winners of the knockout field face each other in the semi-finals to determine which team gets in to the final. The winners of the final became the champions of the tournament.

Location and Venues

The tournament is held in different locations every two years. In order for a country to host the tournament they must be a member of the CONCACAF federation.

The most recent host country was the United States. Matches were held in Gillette Stadium at Foxborough, Massachusetts and at the Home Depot Center.
