Beckham began his career at Manchester United in the English Premier League, and after a long and successful career there under the tutelage of Sir Alex Ferguson, he moved to Madrid. As another star at Real Madrid, he won the Spanish Primera Division under coach Fabio Capello in 2006/07, before moving to the MLS and LA Galaxy, where he signed a record-breaking 5 year contract worth $250 million USD.

He has become a modeling and marketing icon, both for himself and the clubs that he's played for. His move to LA comes as no surprise after a long-standing ambition to break into the celebrity and film world in Hollywood. Beckham's only impact in this regard thus far has been an appearance on an episode of the Simpsons and the subject of the indie film "Bend It Like Beckham".
