About Fulham FC

Fulham FC was created in1879 by Church of England members and was originally named Fulham St Andrew's Church Sunday School. The Whites became a professional organization in 1898 and played out of Craven Cottage, the stadium which Fulham FC still uses today. This is also the origin of the club’s nickname, the Cottages. Throughout its history, the club has played in all level of professional football including the Third Division, Second Division, and currently plays in the Premier League. British football legends such as Johnny Haynes and Chris Coleman once wore the famous white Fulham kits. Many famous international players such as Louise Saha and Alain Goma have also played on the Fulham FC squad. Currently, Fulham FC is owned by Mohamed Al-Fayed and managed by Roy Hodgson.

Fulham FC in 2008/2009

With many of its key players from last season gone, Fulham FC looks like its going to be battling relegation again in the 2008/2009 season. Brian McBride, the squads leading striker, known for his abilities to find the goal at crucial times returned to the United States after four years with the club. David Healey, the North Ireland International and the team’s second top striker was also released.

Taking these players spots on the Fulham squad will be former West Ham star Bobby Zamora and Andy Johnson from Everton, who signed with The Whites for a combined cost of £16.5million. The Even though they have tough shoes to fill, it is essential that these two strikers find a way to work together in order to score goals for the Cottages and avoid being at the bottom of the EPL tables. Clint Dempsey will also have to contribute a lot to the team.

On the defensive side, the current players still have a lot to prove. Last season they let teams get past them very easily. But, with the addition of Mark Schwarzer as a goal it will make their job a bit easier. If the defense plays the same way it did last season, it will have the same fate as Healey.

Coach Hodgson needs to figure a way to get this new squad to play as unite in order to avoid relegation. If it works out for him, the Fulham FC squad will be able to have higher hopes in the seasons that follow.
