the club’s creation on April 1898. Portsmouth FC was founded John Brickwood and Frank Brettell was the Blues first manager. Pompey joined the
Premier
League in 2003, after winning the first division. The club’s main rivalry is Southampton FC. The two football squads compete in the South Coast Derby. Russian Israeli billionaire Arcadi
Gaydamak is the current owner of Portsmouth FC and Harry Rednapp is the manager. Portsmouth FC’s home kits consist of blue colored shorts and jerseys and its away kits are white jerseys and

Portsmouth FC 2008/2009 Season Outlook
After becoming the first 8th ranked
Premier League squad to win the FA Cup in 69 years, the expectations are high for Portsmouth FC. Fans
will be upset if the club does not finish with either a title or a high rank in the League this season.
The club is also expected to do well in its first
UEFA Cup competition. Portsmouth will be playing against other top ranked teams from
all over Europe. Its first two opponents are going to be Cardiff City and Victoria SC.
These high standards for achievement are attainable given the newly acquired talent to the Portsmouth squad. The club’s biggest pick up in the off-season was England international striker
Peter Crouch, who transferred to the squad on an £11 million from Liverpool FC. He will be combing well with Jermain Defoe to form the core of Pompey’s striking unit.
Last season the club’s offense was almost as good as its defense. However to further strengthen it; Arcadi Gaydamak signed former Spurs defender Younes Kaboul to a four year contract. He will
working along the side of Sol Campbell to prevent clubs from scoring. England international and former Portsmouth player of the year
David James will be
in goalie box.
If everything goes well and the players stay healthy Portsmouth FC should be able to accomplish greatness this upcoming season.
