Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich FC (aka The Bavarians, The Reds) is a German Football Club based out of Munich, Germany, and plays in the German Premier League, the Bundesliga. The club’s home is the newly constructed Allianz Arena. Bayern Munich was founded in 1900 by members of the Munich gymnastics club. The Red’s home kits consist of red and white striped shirts and red shorts, and its away kits are comprised from white shirts with red trim and white shorts.

Legends such as Stefan Effenberg and Gerd Müller helped Bayern Munich defeat its arch rivals Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund and Schalke 04 during the sixties and seventies.

Currently superstars Luca Toni, Miroslav Klose and Franck "Bilal" Ribery are helping Bayern Munich reach the top of the Bundesliga. Ottmar Hitzfeld is the head coach of the squad, but will soon be succeeded by Jürgen Klinsman, after he signed a two year contract for 8 million per year.

Bayern Munich FC is considered to be the most successful club in the German Bundesliga. Their list of honors includes: 20 German Championships, 13 German Cups, and 4 Champions League wins. In 1974 the Bavarians became the first German club to win the European Cup, and the third club to win this trophy three years in row, after defeating AS Saint Etienne 1-0. During the 1980s Munich won five out of the six championships which they attended, including the Budesliga title and the German Cup, and finished runners up in the European Cup twice. From of the start of the new millennium till present, Bayern Munich has won two doubles. Recently, Munich’s most successful season was during 2005-2006 season as the club had a double season.
