The National Football Team of Germany has represented the country and the German Football Association (Deutscher Fussball-Bund) in international matches and competitions since 1908. The team was also referred to as West Germany between 1950 and 1990 when the country was separated in Federal Republic of Germany, in the West and Democratic Republic of Germany, the communist controlled Eastern side. It is one of the most successful teams in the world, having multiple top finishes in the UEFA Euro, and three FIFA World Cup titles, the most recent being in 1990. The German national soccer team and its players were undefeated for two years October 1978 and November 1980, one of the longest winning streaks in European football.
