About Luis Figo

Luis Figo is well known throughout the world and is one of the most famous and talented soccer players around. His great technique and the accuracy of his passes have made him one of the world's best midfielders. Luis Figo’s stability, strength and talent have helped him receive the Gold Ball in the year 2000 as well as the FIFA World Player, which are the top two individual awards in the world of soccer. Starting his career with football career at the age of 17 with Sporting Clube de Portugal, Figo has played with great international clubs such as FC Barcelona and Real Madrid, and he was the captain of the Portugal National Football Team, which he helped lead to a third place finish in the Euro Cup of 2000 and second place 2004. Portugal also finished fourth place in the World Cup of 2006. Figo is currently playing on the well known club Inter of Milan.

Luis Figo - An International Superstar

Luis Figo has been capped for the Portuguese National Team ever since 1991. He has participated in also ever major European competition including the World Cup and Euro Cup. His talent on the field even got him elected to the position of captain for Portugal. Figo has been awarded the Portuguese Footballer of the Year Award from 1995 to 2000, and made the UEFA Team of the Year in 2003. In 2006 he captained the Portuguese squad into the semi-finals of the World Cup,, the farthest the team has reached since 1996, but lost to France 1-0. Figo announced his retirement from international football in 2006, leaving behind a legacy as one of the greatest right wingers to ever play on the Portuguese National Team. However, Figo continues to be a club football superstar, playing the right winger position for Inter Milan
