Austria will be co hosting the Euro 2008. Because hosts automatically qualify, the Austrian National team will be competing in its first ever European Championship after qualifying for 7 World Cups. Also known as the WunderTeam, it is regulated by the Austrian Football Federation. The team was founded in 1902 and affliated with FIFA in 1904. The Austrian National team is currently captained by Andreas Ivanschitz and the head coach is Josef Hickersberger. Amongst the players on the squad is superstar defensive midfielder René Aufhauser and defender Martin Hiden. European Golden Boot Award winner Hans Krankl is one of legends that used to play for the Austrian National Team.
