Carlos Alberto Vela Garrido, was born in Cancún, Mexico, on March the 1st, 1989. Talented young player who as of 22 may 2008 has a work permit to play in England for Arsenal football club. Signed by Arsenal in November 2005 for a fee of around 2.5 million, following outstanding performances in the U17 world cup where not only did his national team, Mexico, win the tournament but he won the golden boot.
Carlos started out like most young boys, learning from the people around him, and his brother the fore-mentioned Alejandro, showed early talents as a footballer, and Carlos followed him into the game and signed for Chivas de Guadalajara aged just 12.
After only a short period of time, he was showing talents beyond his years as a left footed striker, with intelligence and class his goal scoring record was attracting attention, and after rising through the ranks, he was called up to the Mexico Under 17’s side to play in the Under 17’s World Cup in Peru in 2005, a tournament in which would prove vital in his future development.
Carlos Vela who plays for Arsenal. He predominantly has played as a winger in Spain, although Arséne Wenger has described him as more of a striker similar to Eduardo.

Vela made his full international debut for Mexico in a September 2007 friendly against Brazil. On October 18th 2007, Vela scored his first senior international goal for Mexico in a friendly game against Guatemala played in Los Angeles. On February 7th 2008 he started a friendly against USA (2-2) and he was replaced by Giovani Dos Santos. On June 8th 2008, Vela scored his second senior international goal for Mexico in a friendly against Peru at the 20th minute to help Mexico with their 4-0 victory. A match later for Mexico he scored in their qualifying opener versus Belize making the match 1-0. In the return leg against Belize he again scored the opening goal of the match and beginning the 7-0 rout in favor of El Tri
