The Polish National team (Reprezentacja Polski w piłce nożnej) is ruled by the Polish Football Association (PZPN; Polski Związek Piłki Nożnej). The team played it's first match on December 19th, 1921 versus Hungary and was defeated 1:0. The current captain of the team is striker Maciej Żurawski and the Dutch Football coach Leo Beenhakker is the head coach of the team. Key players of Polish national team are: Euzebiusz Ebi Smolarek, Artur Boruc and Jacek Krzynówek. The team won a single gold medal during the 1972 summer olympic games in Munich. They competed in group B of the Euro 2008.
