Blackburn Rovers

Blackburn Rovers FC was founded in 1875 and plays out of Ewood Park in Blackburn North England. The club has played in almost every division of football throughout its history including the Third Division, Second Division and Premier League. The Rovers were most successful during the 1900’s winning the FA Cup and League Cup. The clubs home kits consist of blue and white and their away kits are red and black. The Blackburn Rovers is captained by Ryan Nelson and managed by Paul Ince, the first black English Premier League coach in the history of English football. The Blackburn Rovers crest is blue and white with the name Blackburn Rovers written on the outside and a red rose on the inside. Currently the superstar players on the squad are defenders Ryan Nelsen and midfielder David Dunn.

Blackburn Rovers in 2008/2009

The 2008/2009 season for the Blackburn Rovers does not look very promising. At best the club will finish from mid to bottom of the EPL table. The Rovers have a new and inexperienced coach, former England captain Paul Ince, who has only proven himself only the Championship Division level. He will have to do his best to assemble a squad that can compete with top ranked teams Chelsea and Manchester United.

The most influential players on the Blackburn Rovers last season, David Bentley and Robbie Fowler have transferred to other Premier League Teams. The contribution that these two players made to the teams will be hard to replace. The Rovers will have to rely on new transfers Paul Robinson and midfielder Robbie Fowler to win games. Before the transfer window closes this season, the Rovers will have to draft talented midfielders.

As the new English Premier League season started, the Rovers were ranked 10. The club lost to top ranked Arsenal and West Ham United by a three point difference. The Blackburn Rovers defeated both Everton and Fulham by only a single point. All together the Rovers had 7 points.
