The only setback that team might have is Didier Drogba, Chelsea’s all time highest international scorer, who is recovering from an injury last season. However, this should not be a major problem as the Chelsea’s reserves are all full of talent. Backups such as the Ivory Coast star Salomon Kalou, who scored the equalizer against Manchester United after only 11 minutes of play, will be able to be as effective against English Premier League teams as the starters.

Chelsea started the 2008/2009 season strong, ranked number 1 in the EPL with a total of 10 points. Chelsea punished Bordeaux, beating the squad by a score of 4-0 and providing their new manager with his first Champions League victory.
