FC Zenit St. Petersburg

FC Zenit St. Petersburg was establish in 1925 by the workers of Leningrad Metal Works Factory. It is one of most well known clubs in all of Russia. They became a professional organizatioin in 1936 renamed themselves the "Stalinets" in 1938, and became "Zenit St. Petersburg" in 1940. Stars like Yuri Voinov and Mikhail Biryukov played for the club during the Soviet Era and took the team into many championships including the Soviet Cup and Soviet Super Cup.Currently the club is sponsured by Gasprom, one of the biggest oil companies in Russia. FC Zenit St. Petersburg currently features some of the most talented players in russian football such as Andrei Arshavin, and is competing in the UEFA Cup final
